Old friends, new friends and not giving up….

As is turning into my Friday evening habit, I found myself chatting with folks at the Doctrine hosted Friday Night, It’s Alright, Video Chat-a-thon. When I walked through the virtual door, oh, around 8:15 pm, there was already a crowd gathering.  In attendance were Clark and Lizzi, Zoe, Linda and Laura. Someone named Leigh hung around for a while. Michelle came but left too quickly! Lesssee….Kristi popped in for a bit while Joy arrived a short time after her, ready rumble! (no, not really. that just came out. lol)  I don’t really know Joy. But I like her.

Let’s get back to…music! Any music that makes me smile is good music. 5 fingers + Rob = smiles. Throw in a fun guitar lick and what’s not to like? Friday night on the Chat Laura, after discovering I also liked 5tdp (5 finger death punch), turned me on to a couple of  bands I had never heard of. One of those bands are these guys. Thank you Laura!

Confession time. Laura is the first female I have ever met who loves the same “hard” type of music that so often sets my soul to soaring and my heart a melting. Metal for the mind. Metal for the soul. *blissful sigh*  To top it off, she is the first person to voice what I’ve never been able to explain to anyone – heavy, so called “metal” music can be happy music. It’s true! It can make me smile, give me energy, move me to tears, bring me joy. It does everything music is supposed to do.

There are 10 things here. 10 Things of Thankful. I am.

Always,
Girlie

I thought the same thing Girlie…Here is finally someone who feels the same way as me! I’m glad we have this in common and can share music that the others in the vidchat may look at us funny for 😀

In the immortal words of that comedian….FUCK YOU! LOL

That’s right. We be clarklike females. What of it buddy? Huh? Huh? And yes, thank god for the Doctrine so we all have a way to describe the manifestation of our “unique” worldview. Our reality man. Our reality.

Boots? Check! Trenchcoat? Well, sure. It’s Jones New York though. And yes, it’s black.
The freaky thing? I did try the cheerleading thing once in gradeschool. Made it through one basketball game. Found it too stupid. I would rather have been the one playing basketball. I love playing basketball:)

Yo Laura! Stand up your beautiful clarklike self and tell Clark to fuck off! LOL

It’s not that I don’t like metal, I just don’t understand all of yours. But I’m far too eclectic to be tied down to one thing. I like the Beach Boys and Herman’s Hermits and Queens of the Stone Age and Queen all in the same breath, yaknow?

I’m glad for vidchat though. I’ll have to find a way of linking you to Leigh. She has a FUNNY blog. I’ve not read much of it, but she’s bawdy and rude and outspoken and wonderful 🙂

I do know! clarks are all about eclectica:) It’s one of the things that make us so interesting!

Me too! As long as I can be somewhat awake, the vid chats have been most enjoyable.
Yeah, I hadn’t “met” Leigh before. Sure. Link us up!

Off to work in a couple of minutes. AAGGHH…

P.S. If ever I get a book written, songs or poetry published or get a band going you will be in charge of Promotions! And why are you not in advertising and marketing? LOL

Denise is referring to a (rather) cool, collaborative writing project taking place over at http://rogercoyne.wordpress.com/ aka the Secessionist Rag

this is the progenitor rogers blog and he and Denise are writing a story… each for a different character… kinda interesting, both are well on their way to creating some interesting characters

Yeah, I’m more of an Ingrid Michaelson kind of girl. And 70s stuff (don’t judge). Not so much the heavy metal, but I’m thankful YOU like it and that I don’t have to 🙂

Not me! No judging here! I love a lot of the music from the 70’s!!

I find that I have to have Ingrid playing in the background because frankly her vids are…very bizarre. Visually unsettling LOL
Nice to hear from you Dyanne:)

I think your 10 Things are awesome! Really I do. 🙂
And hard rock/metal? Well, I admit, it doesn’t always resonate but there are LOTS of songs I DO like: Metallica, Collective Soul (is that considered metal?), Creed…but then I LOVE to sing along such that if I can’t, a song loses my interest…but well…I am the girl that has to be able to sing the Alphabet in Spanish over and over and over and over again to different groups of kids, so…yeah…I might be slightly insane anyways. 😉

Thank you Cyndi! I believe you:)
It’s a weird thing. There is so much variety in the genre. One’s person’s hard rock is another person’s metal. I don’t know what really classifies as metal anymore to be honest with you. lol
You insane? a clark insane? Never!
I bet you never sing the alphabet in Spanish the same way twice:) And that’s just plain fun.

Don’t ask me why I just noticed, but there hasn’t been a single roger to visit today….clarks and a lone scott. Huh.

We missed you on the Saturday Night Call. Maybe next week:)

Here’s another scott for you! 🙂
I enjoy all sorts of music, but some of the hard rock/metal/whatever the hell it is is just too hard/metal for my tastes. I do enjoy the names of the bands, though. Five Finger Death Punch? Where does that even come from?

Yay! And one of my favorites:)

I think you already have to have liked the “harder” stuff when you were young. Then, you never outgrow it! I’ll still be listening to Metallica when I’m 100. Hell, I’ll probably still have a soft spot for Maiden (Iron that is) lol As much as I like the metal, I am a sucker for classical and blues….isn’t it great to have such choice?!!

      5fdp? I’m guessing marital arts?

I opened up my facebook news feed today, and the first thing I saw was a post from a high school friend. In its entirety, it said, “Five Fingered Death Punch…… Who know that I would like them…..”
