Meet Me At the Edge.

This, my first post of Year 2015. Pink Floyd shall speak their words and they shall be mine. For today. The first day.

I’ll see everyone here, at the Edge, later and again, for the first time and maybe the last. I’ll see you here for all that can be, might and will be. The Edge is the place of possibility, the frontier of dreams.

Post Script: What you see up there? 2 paragraphs and a vid? That was my New Year’s Post at 9:20 am this morning. Until I decided, “naah – too easy, selfish…” So I’m back. In the spirit of full disclosure (‘cuz that’s what I decided 5 minutes ago, that this year was gonna be about) I’m going to tell you everything about me at this very moment and what I plan to do after I hit the Publish button.

…. it’s beautiful today. Bright sunshine (to allow for full disclosure). The high temps should reach mid to upper 40’s. I walked earlier today. It was quiet, peaceful. Nice start.

Just got out of the shower.  I started thinking about what I should do first. I don’t want to hole up in the apt. As a clark, this is very tempting. I could read, write, watch a movie…No-o-o! The world isn’t inside, it’s out there!

Btw, I’m not sitting on the bed writing like I always do. No sir. I’m standing up, bending over slightly. The laptop sits in front of me on a drafting table. I face the large, red curtained window, sun streaming in. (you know, to shine on full disclosure).

What to wear today. Same old same old? Of course not! This is 2015! My mind is made up. I will wear my gray, 100% cotton, Size 5, Union Bay, cargo pants. (they feel like nylon to me).

Unmentionables – courtesy of Candies. Both pieces black w/white lace. (you’re sharing details of your intimates?! are you mad? whadya mean commitment to full disclosure? wtf!)

Maintenant, what to wear on mes pieds? Easy. Black, Madden Girl Motorrr boots with ever soft lavender plaid lining. Yes. They’re a 12 eyelet, zipper up the back pair of “combat” boots. What else for this clarklike female to wear out into the werld on this first afternoon of 2015?!

After I slip black socks over my Essie painted toenails in Macks (a very lovely shade of red) , I shall lace up the boots and choose my shirt and sweater. The color scheme today seems to have manifested in tones of grey/black. A splash of color is in order. Nothing garish. Subtle is the word of the day. 1st layer (there are often layers, even with full disclosure) will be a white v neck, 3/4 sleeve cotton shirt over which I will wear a 50% angora, 50% lambs wool, peach colored sweater. Toasty soft.

I will leave the confines of these 4 walls wearing my black, full length woolen Forecaster of Boston, coat. Simple, straight lines, it has a velvet collar and 2 side pockets. I can’t won’t wear clothing that does not contain pockets. Pockets hold not only hands when they’re cold (or self conscious) but any number of useful things. Or found things. Like seashells. (in the spirit of full disclosure, I would often stuff my pockets with treasures of sea glass, shells and such when once I walked upon beaches.)

On the hands? Fingerless gloves of course. It’s about dexeterity. Life is about dexterity.

Time to hit the Publish button. Time to leave. It is about here but for this Girlie? This year it’s about Out There. See you next time we meet at the Edge.

  1. not bad, not bad at all.
(for those of you following along, what our authorini has done, but has not stated, as is appropriate, is set out for that most terra incognito (incognitae?) the ‘present’…. not exactly the regular hangout for most clarks… we officially applaud this action)

    (yeah… clarks is weird)

  2. Yeah, actually, I can’t figure out what Clark said, either. lol. I do like the word “authorini.”
Anyways, so, I clicked “play” right when I started reading your post. OMG – did you do that totally on purpose? It’s like the theme song of this post! The music was instrumental…and builds up to the words as I start commenting. The instrumental part and the words – all very cool!
Was going to try to get a blog post done this morning. Didn’t happen before I had ta leave. Maybe tonight. After I do some ebook writing. 🙂
Happy New Year! Was going to go to friend’s house last night…but then decided to stay home. It’s way better to watch True Detectives and eat popcorn than have to go through checkpoints on the mountain roads. 😀 So, yes…it’s often so much better to stay home. Just because it is. I had a coupla cats n dogs to keep me warm. 😀

    1. I’ll get to interpreting Clark’s comment in a minute.

Yes. Totally on purpose. I had never heard this PF song before today. Stumbled upon it on my first go out on the ‘Tube. Sometimes we are led:) So glad you liked it and clicked play as you read it. Sometimes music vids are meant to be played while reading:)

In a nustshell what Clark is saying is that clarks are not naturally of the “here and now”. As in “acting in the moment” – on purpose. (This is not to say that clarks are not spontaneous) Since we (clarks) live inside our heads, we forget that life is engagement. With people and places that exist not in our heads but all around us! To engage the world “out there” is to participate, it is to exchange. It is to act. Action implies movement.

Happy New Year to you as well! Checkpoints?! You made the right decision!

The 4 leggeds are most accomadating and useful during pre winter and winter days and nights for sure!

Look forward to reading more from you. Especially, the ghost story!

        2. Me like! Me like! (That is my way of expressing myself after a tough Friday at work. There were some pleasant highs – in my writing world – and some low lows – in my teaching world. I can’t say too much such that lots of people will see, but suffice it to say that I’m *very* glad my resume is polished and I deserve better. Harumph! Hehe. So, here’s to amazing blogs, amazing fans, an amazing 2015. The sky’s the limit!

    1. I am. Right now:)

No, it is not the last. It was good.

Ah. You’re right. When I moved here, I brought with me a heart shaped wicker basket. It sits on the drafting table in my room.
In that basket is an assortment of odds and ends, most of which are sea shells and a most lovely and perfect starfish. I used to only carry shells in my jean jacket. But you’ve convinced me dear Lizzi to once again carry that which I hold sacred. Thank you my friend:)

      1. As life goes on, I think more and more that we need to do and hold near us the things which count – the things which make us US, even if they seem silly. They matter.

I’m gonna have to work on that one, cos at the moment I have a wrist with no Wishlet on it, and nothing to remind me. I’ll work on it 🙂 I keep shells in my bag at all times.

        1. If they are things that make us US, then they aren’t silly. And I agree! Of course they matter!

“Wishlet”? I don’t know this. Tell me please what it is? Good for you:) I’ve been lugging around shells (and a few rocks, piece of driftwood or 2) for decades. I think I know to whom I shall leave them in my will LOL

        2. Heheh That’s awesome.

I like having things which are so simple and familiar they seem part of ME. Even if they’re different actual ONES, if that makes sense. But I have rocks and things which I found at particular times and which hold particular meanings. They matter.

A wishlet is an infinity symbol on a string, and you make a wish and tie it on, and when it breaks, your wish is set free to come true. It’s a gimmick and a bit of fun, but the one I had, Beth sent me, and I wanted it to last til Christmas, and it broke on the 23rd.

        3. There is infinite beauty in simplicity. Yes, they matter. They will always matter.

I remember now! Why did you want it to last until Christmas? You made a wish yes? If so, then who are you to try and control when the wishlet is to be broken…. so that your wish is set free to come true:)

        4. I made a wish. And I KNOW about the not control, but STILL! Would have been nice. I think just because it was such a strong, tangible *thing* of Beth, and it made her close by, even though not. That will make sense to you. So I just wanted it to survive for Christmas. It’s alright that it didn’t – not the end of the world, but…*shrugs* it would have made my heart happier.

        5. Good:) Yes, it makes sense. Still, it’s sometimes difficult to accept even “not the end of the world” stuff because deep down it wasn’t “nteotw” stuff on some level.
I might be off base here (but I think not) when I say that clarks attach significance to things sometimes in a way that is far different from how scotts and rogers do such things. Not better, just different. It is the nature of our worldview:)

          Like

        6. Yes, in a transcendent kind of way, because it’s not the thing itself (scott), or what it represents to other people (roger) but a meaning almost once-removed from the item, which is utterly vital to us.

It was a thing which made me sad. Not for the thing itself, but for the transcend which then wasn’t, on that day, in those moments, even though the existence of the wishlet on my wrist made not a jot of difference to any of the rest of it.

          Like

        7. I could not have expressed that better. I love your use of the word “transcendent”. What is “vital” to us is most definitely removed from the common experience.

If I could bend time, I’m giving you a hug this past Christmas day:)
