Minutes Matter in the Morning…

Hey! It’s Sunday morning 7:32 am. At this moment. Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge. And you know what? The requisite 30 minute wait time has expired and I’m free now to ingest coffee. But I have to put the pot on. Be right back….

See? Didn’t take too long. 30 minute wait time? Oh that. I take a 1x weekly dose of medicine for my osteoporosis. Upon waking I have to not ingest anything except 8 ounces of water (puke) and take a white pill. Since this is a TToT post, surely I’ll include the fact that I am grateful to have had the medical insurance that lead me to this quirk in my weekly routine.

You know, I just don’t know where to begin! The title of today’s post was a quote to my significant other Friday morning. After Thursday evening’s commute, I was determined to get in to work early enough so I could leave no later than 3:30 that afternoon (you’re pretty much doomed then too lol). “…ya know, minutes matter in the morning…”

And so they surely do. They matter in a very special way. I don’t know if it’s the same for scotts and rogers but for clarks? the early time is special. Why just last night on the Wakefield Doctrine Saturday Night Drive Call in Show, Clark and Cynthia and I were discussing that very thing. How did you describe it Cyndi?

It’s 8:26 am. I’ve had a few pleasant interruptions this morning so I’m thinking perhaps it’s time to dispense with hopes I have witty words and simply put up my list of 10 9:

9) that I woke up again to this day of blue sky and sunshine. a good start to the week 🙂

8) got to do it… I’m thankful for not being part of any of the many accidents along the Beltway this last week.

7) my new purse! finally, I’ve found one bigger than the last but not too, too big (it’s actually pretty heavy right now and I haven’t finished filling it lol) at a fantastic price! (so good I was able to buy an almost fuschia colored cashmere sweater. yes. winter is around the corner)

6) music. Every now and again, well pretty reguarly, I’m reminded of how empty and incomplete my life would be without it.

5) the Wakefield Doctrine.

4) knowing so many talented people out and about in cyberland to inspire me. As of late, there are folks trying their hand (me, I’m tying lol) at writing short stories and that’s exciting! Truth be told, I’d thought about it. Especially after a few of ivywalker’s 6 Sentence Storytime over at her place. Maybe? Maybe.

3) Blogdominion. It’s a new serial story. I’m liking the premise. In fact, without partiality I can say, I’m hooked! Hey Val! It’s pretty good so far, yes? 🙂 Hint: site opens with most recent chapter. Just hit the back arrows to Prologue. And don’t forget to vote!

2) the opportunity that is around me given I have the eyes to see, the energy to grasp, the will to make happen

1) this moment… there is no other.

I like the title of this week’s post and I agree with health care coverage and music and blue skies.

Thanks Kerrie! Staying healthy, appreciating what’s all around us…an infinite soundtrack, blue skies… Yup. Thankfuls galore 😀

I love the serial story. Those precious morning minutes. My favorite time, coffee and catching up on my writing and reading. It would be hard to wait an hour for my coffee, but I suppose if I took the pill while I was still in bed and waiting the hour under the covers, I could deal. And it is only one day of the week. All wool, even the soft cashmere, makes my skin itch so I’m a cotton lover. I have a big purse that is heavy when it’s empty. Permanent dent in the shoulder. But a girlie needs what a girlie needs. Have a good week, Denise.

I can’t wait for Chapter 4. Early morning is the perfect time for catch up isn’t it? Oh, but there’s a catch! I’d love to lay back all cuddly in bed too, but I can’t. Directions are to remain upright. Sitting is permissible but absolutely no lying down, drinking or eating of any kind. Kinda sucks. I’m with you on the cotton but I have to say, soft sweaters melt me. Now that’s impressive “heavy when it’s empty” lol
Agreed. – a girlie needs what a girlie needs 🙂 Thanks, Val. You have a good week too. Maybe I’ll see you over at Blogdominion!

I have only had one cashmere sweater in my life. Got in on a fabulous sale. I love it, even though the wear on it is showing just how much I love it.
Despite the annoyances, like waiting 30 minutes to drink coffee, we must be thankful for the medicines that help us live longer and better.
Ah, those quiet mornings…a full day of possibilities ahead of us…
We’ve had lots of accidents around here, lately. I’m glad I’m not in them, but even more glad my 17 year old driver isn’t.

Even better when it’s on sale, right? 🙂 I know what you mean. This is the first one since I was…geez in my late 20’s!
Oh, I am. I tell myself that each week. It’s only one day…I can suck it up!
I’m glad for you too Christine. I’d probably be a wreck that first year, you know, until he gets more experience.
      Possibilities…absolutely 🙂

I HAAAAATE taking that weekly Fosamax pill! In fact, you just reminded me that I didn’t take it last week. Oops. I think I may be out of them. Maybe I should call and refill them….
I also hate purse shopping. I don’t have shoulders, so I have to have a purse with just one strap. It has to be a long enough strap that I can put the purse on my shoulder with one hand and it not get caught on my elbow. This is no easy fete, as I have long arms. It has to zip or have a flap or something so that it isn’t wide open on top at all times. Must have at least one zippy compartment inside. It makes purse shopping an ordeal.

You forgot?! Call in that prescription right now! I remember in the beginning being so nervous when I missed 1 day lol
Again, the similarities.. 🙂 I too am not fond of purse shopping. Takes me forever and it doesn’t help that I instinctively reach for stupidly expensive ones without even seeing the price tag! But this one was a steal. Perhaps you need the old messenger style bag – long strap, flap…maybe a zippy compartment?
      Agreed. Ordeal.

It sure can! I really like this song. Was never a big fan back in the day but have come to enjoy and appreciate his music.

The only way I could handle that 30 minute wait is if the pill was beside my bed with a glass of water (puke-o-rama) so I could roll over and go back to sleep for the wait.

Not only do you not get to eat or drink anything for 30 minutes, but you also have to remain upright, so your plan is a no-go, Vanessa!

        That’s what I said too!
And that’s the part that sucks! But what could happen? They just scare you into not doing it 🙂

Every second counts in the morning as you know… I know from my buddy taking so many of them a.m. Thanks for the advice/support.

That sweater sounds beautiful and I know it will be very warm! Synthroid medication also requires taking it the same way as you do your medication. It’s the pharmacy’s way of getting us up and moving I guess. It is hard to find a purse that is exactly what one wants. I’m not supposed to use a purse that has a strap over the shoulder if there is very much stuff in the purse. I like the convenience of having the strap though, because it leaves my hands free. I also need one a certain size so it can contain what I want with me. I’m glad you escaped from being in any accident on the beltway. That’s a huge thankful.

Warm is the operative word Pat! 🙂 Oh, it does keep me up and moving. I’m totally afraid of laying back down!
Now you have a challenge! What’s the point of having a purse if not to fill it with stuff lol. I’m with you – I like the option a strap gives in case I need to use my hands. I’m not a huge fan of carrying a purse on my arm.
Thanks, me too. It’s Monday morning so we’ll see what’s out on the highways today.
      Have an excellent week Pat!
