“I Was Young. I Was Foolish”. Sunday Edition. TT0T From the Edge.

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge. Today, is the Sunday edition of Lizzie’s Ten Things of Thankful.

Music is my second language. I am fluent in it. I can’t always speak it well with others. I know it, I feel it. It is me. Whatever the music, song, lyric is at that particular moment. Expression. Self-expression. Inability to self express. Outlets. We all need them. I need a creative outlet. Once upon a time ago it was this, the writing of words. I suppose it still is to a certain extent. Then I realized 3 years ago this summer, when I’d turned a corner in my goal of playing bass that I had found another outlet. I knew it was there! I knew it! Because I felt it. Only, months after this revelation, I left one life (and one family) for an unknown, as yet (duh!) undetermined one. The one I now find myself living. Only this life? So not what I expected, intended or otherwise thoughtΒ I would have. So what about that, huh?! If you’re single, then life can be less complicated in many ways. If you’re not, the lines can start to fuzz out and bleed. Yeah, sure. But what about choices?! What about them? They’re our own to make. Easy for you to say. Easy if you’re a scott!

  1. For the text I just got from Ivy aka Zoe. Smile. Put a big one on my face. Thanks.
  2. For not completely succombing to the “dark side”.
  3. For the fortune of finding kind, genuine folks with which to co-habitate while I “find” the life I came here to establish. And! the opportunity to learn to speak Spanish from them.
  4. Coffee. Coffee. Coffee.
  5. For my health. To sustain me through little sleep and much work. I did it. Cool.
  6. For remembering things, moments, achievements that somehow go missing when you most need them.
  7. For the Wakefield Doctrine.
  8. For Blogdominion! Yes, good story. And a reminder that it’s all there if we want it. It takes discipline and desire.
  9. For the generosity of others. I feel blessed.
  10. For waking another day.

Options. Choice. Action. There is only one day. This day.Β

  1. Between the lines, it sounds like you’ve been having a rough week. I hope that the next one is greatly improved, and HUGE KUDOS for finding those thankfuls. They really are always there, but sometimes so difficult to grab and make meaningful.

I wish you a week of meaning and light and moments of deep joy (or coffee, which might amount to kind of the same thing) *HUGS*

    1. It was, both existentially and workwise. Hardly any sleep and mega hours at work. This week, without doubt, I validated (like I really need to…NOT) that I must go to the gym. It’s the only time I sleep like the dead:)
I am thankful each day for something and I suppose, for purposes of this bloghop, it would behoove me to write them down as I usually forget by the time the weekend rolls around!

Thank you Lizzi. Coffee is imperative. I look always for the meaning and the light. If it’s at the bottom of a coffee mug, so be it!
*HUGS* to you my friend. Always.

        1. It was! No rain, sunshine, heat in the van, and the final boxes moved. Now all I need do is take stuff to charity shops and some to my sister, and sell some, and I’m 100% DONE! Moved! Wow.

Hope your day’s been a good one xo

        2. Sunshine! Especially when moving is….HUGE! Moving is such an ordeal. If you can get it done quickly (relatively) it’s a big relief when over.
Congratulations on being almost, as good as, 100% Done and Moved πŸ™‚
Good for you Lizzi. An excellent way to begin your week!!

Thank you, it was πŸ™‚ I went to the gym after work!! 2 more days though and no gym 😦

        3. Booo 😦 That sucks. I get to go back tonight for the first time this week and I cannot WAIT! I’m champing at the bit to get there.

Glad your week started out well, but it sounds as though it could do with picking up a bit!

Sunshine was amazing, especially as rain had been forecast! I shall hope for more sunshine today, and for further progress. We both have THIS day, right?

        4. I know. I have to figure a way to join and actually go as many days of the week as I would like (4). Hope you had an excellent workout!

Yeah, I’d welcome any pickup. It’s Wednesday now and sheesh! I’m looking forward to Friday already lol

NOTHING beats sun shining and all the better if unexpected. Makes anything more tolerable, eh?

We do Lizzi! We have this day. This moment. All ours, baby. All ours πŸ˜€

        5. I went, I exhausted myself last night, so I gave myself this evening off, just doing 2 hours of chores and errands by bicycle instead. It was a bit gentler but I must have clocked close to 6 miles, which feels good.

I hope you get that pickup! And I hope the sun keeps shining.

        6. See! Self reinforcement. It is a good thing πŸ˜€
I so don’t blame you. It’s been very cold here. I walk out of the house all “michelined” up lol. I’m so very thankful for layering πŸ˜€
Stay warm my friend. Daylight savings time is almost here! (kind of)

  2. There are so many amazing bloggers doing and writing amazing things.
I think music is also amazing. I have a goal, a bucket list item to learn violin. I know it is one of the most difficult instruments to learn, but I think I will attempt it for my upcoming birthday.
    Wish you a wonderful week.

    1. I’m in full agreement Kerry!
No kidding. Violin looks amazingly difficult but it’s lovely to hear you so committed to learning. It’s a beautiful sounding instrument without doubt.
So, um, when’s your birthday? Ya know, so I can say “oh Ker-r-ry…did you begin your violin lessons?” πŸ˜€
Thank you and may you also have a most excellent week.

  3. Did you say you’re learning EspaΓ±ol?? Ah hah! Another reason to LOVE you!
I’m glad you mentioned the “trading family” part, too. I had wondered about it, but didn’t wanna be nosy. But I hope it’s working out – it sounds like it is. πŸ™‚ I’m glad you’re warm, safe, and have acquired a new family. I know that “blood” of our friends can sometimes be thicker than that of our family. Somehow, as we go through life, the experiences that bond us together change us for life and permanently attach us to those with whom we’ve had those experiences. I know this because I have friends like that.
Aw, hell…you and Clark are becoming extended family to me. Just saying. πŸ˜€

    1. I had my first “lesson” tonight as a matter of fact! I rent a room from a woman who is from Bolivia. Her daughter is now my official tutor πŸ˜€
And her sister will gladly help me if I ask. So yeah, Estoy aprendiendo espaΓ±ol (not me – google translate! but give me time!)
You can be nosy Cyndi because well, you’ve been becoming extended family ever since we sent you off to college lol. No, in all seriousness, I feel as if we started a bond the first time you called into the Doctrine πŸ™‚

      1. Tee hee. Well, sigue siendo (keep on keepin’ on) and know that I’m thinking of you. Have fun, stay warm (holy crap it’s cold right now!) and if you have questions, you can ask me, too. Yo soy la maestra. Of course, someone from Bolivia would um, be the extreme expert. πŸ˜‰

        1. Gracias! Tu aussi! (don’t know the Spanish yet, French will do lol)
Thanks, I will definitely seek your counsel should my lessons get too difficult πŸ˜€
Pronunciation comes slower for me with the Spanish. Way trickier than the Francais πŸ™‚
