Fairytales and Thankfuls. Let’s Talk TToT.

Here I sit in my tiny room, chores unattended. I try and coax a little sunshine into the space created by these four buttercupped walls, beyond the cinammon sheers and upturned blinds… but there is none to be found. Gray hovers hopefully, somewhere there is light and eventually it will find its way…

…it is early evening. I have returned. Still no light shines through any pane, chilled by cooling air, the world out there remains the same. Sunlight is not necessary to illuminate the thankfuls, the gratefuls, the how lucky I ams. No sir. I can write this in the darkest gloom or the brightest of sunlight.

Let’s give pause to thank Josie, who has taken the baton, taken the mantle and made it her own. Here’s to you Josie for providing a link to possibility and participation.

Hey! Look at me! I woke up again today, Sunday. In good health (as far as I know) and that, my friends, is ALWAYS a thankful. To boot? Unlike yesterday, the sun is shining this morning. Here, why don’t we proceed, we’ll even employ the more conventional numbering system…..

4  Technology! Phones! The YouTube! for sending me a suggestion this morning. It’s a 3 hour (yes, 3 hours) long recording of Johnny and Edgar Winter at the Bottom Line in NY in 1978. The recording is of excellent quality. *sigh* Johnny. My first guitar crush.

5  The possibility of anything. Why, yes, getting oneself into this particular mindset is not easy to put it simply. At times, it seems impossible! So, when faced with the stubborn refusal of my brain to allow my body to participate in this consideration, what to do? Trickery! That’s right! By whatever means necessary, trick yourself! It worked on Carlos, it can work on me, right? lol The catch of course, is I have to perpetrate the trickery on my own damn self 😀

6 the Wakefield Doctrine. #5 was a good segue, non?

7 FB friends. Yes, they are friends to me even when/if I don’t comment or if all I do is click the “Like” button. They are all still part of my “world”.  If I’ve all but disappeared to them, they remain friends because they share of themselves. When individuals share, possibility has opportunity to become reality. Somewhere, in some fashion. “Cause and effect” come in all kinds of packages. And it goes without saying that it is the positive of which I speak!

8 A dog barking somewhere outside of my abode. A short time ago, earlier in the morning (which makes it all the more special) I heard the deep timbre of a dog’s bark. Deep signifying large canine. This is important as unfortunately had it been the barking of a smaller dog, I would not have had the same positive reaction. No disrespect to the smaller canines out there and their owners 😀  I am thankful for the duration of that barking while the light of the sun shone through my cinammon sheers, because I felt….the imminent, almost palpable, on the cusp, seasonal change. Just a few moments 🙂

SR 1.3 (go ask Clark)

10 Music, moments in time captured for perpetuity, the awareness that today is the only day. Sing whenever you can…

I’m liking the ballad of Humpty Dumpty playing whilst I convey my commentation. 🙂 Glad there be another post here. 🙂
Always love your list of thankfuls and here’s to hoping the sun finally did shine. Lawd knows that sunny days give us clarks the vitamin D needed to continue thinking so thoughtfully….
And thank goodness for Girlie on the Edge and for technology. 🙂

I’m glad I was able to offer the reminder:)
I often need to remind my own self! It is all too easy to “rest” and get “lost” in the false belief we will always have tomorrow.

    Good TToT post.
    Excellent BoSR/SBoR* citation!
Surely my favorite Secret Rule (SR 1.3) It was, in fact. the first evidence of said book. (SR 1.3 says, in part, “the fact of having nearly completing a list of Ten Things of Thankful constitutes an Item, ( “…Quod ponitur consummatio partialis contribuens peracta party totem.”</em) …and such.
Liked Item 5 ("Hey! On the count of three…")

This was a wonderful, peaceful flow of thought that set the perfect tone for my Sunday evening! I found myself saying “yes” all the way through. While we always hope for sunshine in our lives, often there are overcast skies, and so I especially appreciated your acknowledgement that we can “write this in the darkest gloom or the brightest sunlight.” I’ve always found that even if I begin in the shadows, by the time I’ve reached ten the sun is shining in my soul and I am beginning to feel the surge of hope return. It’s powerful medicine, this thankful stuff! I am happy to provide the linkup place for us to come together to share and encourage each other. It takes a community to disband the myth that the sky is falling!

Waking up, the clean slate of possibility is a time of anticipation, or it should be. What can we make of this day? What can I do to make it better for me… and for someone else? I am healthy enough, I can do something. We can all do something. I join you in being thankful for waking up. It is better than the alternative, for the present time at least!

I love technology, it is an amazing gift if we use it wisely. We can find, we can discover, we can connect, we can share, and we can enjoy, and we can revisit old times and memories. I would be hard pressed to give up my tablet, smartphone, and Internet. It is a lifeline, it keeps me grounded to a world I often tend to drift away from.

I smiled at the concept of tricking yourself to believe in possibilities. We live in a society where hope is dashed on a daily basis, and it makes such a difference if we can realize that anything is truly possible. At the times when my life felt most hopeless I had no idea the surprises that were being held in store for me. I am so glad I remained to experience them! Yes, the Wakefield Doctrine fits right in with this, perspective is everything.

I join you in being thankful for Facebook friends, it is the one place I socialize these days, and often only with a like or a heart or a smile, maybe a brief comment, and if it resonates with me, a share. We don’t have to converse at length each day, I like the checking in to see that everyone is hanging in there, overcoming life’s struggles and celebrating life’s joys. I like the caring and the encouragement, the cats and the dogs and the humor. It’s good for us! 🙂

It’s funny the things that signal season changes to us. I can relate to the big dog barking. Summer time to me is squirrels scampering across the bedroom, Autumn is a day when I no longer swelter in the boiling Texas sun. The ever present wind here smells different with each season, it feels different too. I miss the true seasons of home. I do not miss the long winters.

SR 1.3 is clearly a Clark influence, and that makes me smile. It works for me! I detest requirements and thus we have acceptable alternatives. Alternative realities? Maybe.

#10 is a powerful message in total, today is indeed the only day that matters at the moment. “Sing whenever you can…” is a joyful burst of positivity. We can always find a song to sing if we listen to our hearts!

Thank you for sharing with us at TToT, your post was a blessing to me! Have a great week coming up. I have called in sunshine for you. XOXO

I’m so very glad my words had a positive effect on you. Even in some of my darker writings, always, there is the positive.
Your comments are always thoughtful and often to me, are little posts in and of themselves… speaking of uplifting 🙂
You’re lucky that you had the ability to forge through your times of hopelessness, to wait out the darkness. So many are unable to hang in there to see that there is the possibility of “better”.
The wind smelling different?! How interesting! But I know exactly what you mean about the change of season markers. As a young adult still living in RI, there would be a specific day when I knew that it was fall. Never falling on the same day year after year, yet unmistakable in its appearance as the first day of autumn. I called it, still call it, the epitome of fall. My favorite season 😀
You have a great week coming up too Wendy and thank you for the sunshine! We’ve had 2 consecutive days of sunshiny perfection 😀
*hugs* for sharing such positive attitude and for the encouragement your words always provide:)
