Ten Things of Thankful, Christmas New Year’s Day Edition

Hey. It’s late…holy shit! 10:30?! Where in the world did this day go? Who am I trying to kid. It’s been here all along. No. No tricky metaphysical mumbo jumbo. No sir. Not from me. Not tonight 😀 Although, if ever there was a night for such things…

See what I tried to do? lol I had every good intention last night but clearly I was on the road to hell. (no, nothing fun, Kathleen’s favorite, the “road to hell is paved with good intentions”). It’s been the “holiday season, whoop-de-do (and dickery dock)” and as such…busy. But holiday or not, Josie Two Shoes has not failed us. As every week for longer than I want to recognize, she hosts this bloghop of bloghops, the Ten Things of Thankful.

OK. Let’s stop talking and open some presents!

1  The wind howling, screaming, challenging me to get up. It is, afterall, a beautiful day.

2  the Wakefield Doctrine. Check out this Doctrine Christmas post from 2013. Excellent.

3  Last Saturday night’s call in call with Clark and Cynthia. What?! We were still talking over an hour after the official end time? lol

4  Speaking of Clark and Cynthia. Thanks Clark for sharing this and thank you Cynthia for the obvious. Excellent 🙂

5  For co-workers who are generous and fun and a pleasure to be around.

6  Music. Especially this time of year.

7  Everyone in the virtual world who writes, creates, shares. Don’t stop.

8  A week ago today, my morning commute. Stopped at a red light I heard the sound of geese. The very large V formation approaches from my right. I lean in to my windshield to look out so as to follow their path as they cross over and above. (ironic they had the green light!). Cool. But wait!  They weren’t finished.  2 other V formations, 2 more skeins of geese flew overhead. It was going to be a good day 😀

9  I am so very thankful for good health, a roof over my head, a secure job, a wonderful vehicle to get me there or anywhere I need or want to go.

10  This day. The only day.

  1. Missy · December 25

Great list! Merry Christmas! (I stop everything to watch geese too. Such majastic yet mean critters!)

  2. Clark Scottroger · December 26

I’m with Missy… thems ornery bastids, what with their ballerina necks and such, but while you stand there mesmerized (yeah, a little like a fricken cobra)… they’ll flat-foot their assess right up into ‘peck-your-eyeballs-out’ range….

    • GirlieOnTheEdge · December 26

Now hold on there! You sure you’re not thinking swans? with their “ballerina necks and such”? 😀
      Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Sageleaf · December 28

With the Christmas melee, I didn’t see this right away, but I’m glad I came over to have a look-see.
Like you I am thankful for my job(s), my writing, creative stuff, food, a roof over my head, coworkers, family, the Doctrine. Yes yes!
I for one, love seeing those V-formations of geese. Near where we live, there is a large lake (I go walking over there all the time) and hundreds and hundreds of geese visit every day. There’s even a little sanctuary for them.
They land on the water and take off from the water and it’s a sight to see.
As for everyone in the virtual world who creates, writes, and shares, well, I will join them in saying, DON’T STOP. You, either. Don’t ever stop. Please. The world needs your writing. Now if I could just convince Lizzi to come back to the blogging world….dang…the world needs her writing, too.
In any case, I hope your Christmas was merry and that your upcoming New Year is joyful! Sending you big hugs, friend!

    • GirlieOnTheEdge · December 28

      I’m glad too!
I love watching geese. Not crazy over the geese poop though lol A sanctuary? Very cool! There is something magical when you listen to them and watch them fly so gracefully. I have always loved it.
I will try to keep the writing thing going. As a matter of fact, I want to write something to put up on the 6 Sentenct hop tonight. It’s a race now with the Sandman. He’s wreaking havoc right now 😀 And I still want to get over to Kerry’s blog. She put up a late but good TToT post:)
I totally agree about Lizzi. She has a talent for sure. She is so excellent with her descriptions.
Hope you and John had a wonderful Christmas as well. Enjoy the time “off”. Happiness and health for you and John and Vinny in the coming New Year!

  4. Lisa A. Listwa · December 29

Music…yes, always. No matter what time of year it is a wonderful thing. And I’m with you on the virtual world and all in it who put their beauty out there for the rest of us. So many lovely souls I would never have encountered if not for this virtual thing.
Hope your holidays have been merry! Happy new year ahead!

    • GirlieOnTheEdge · December 30

Absolutely! I know you know this 🙂
Amazing, isn’t it? Had we never ventured out of the “real” world… lol
Thank you Lisa! You too. Have a wonderful New Year with many adventures and much happiness!

Thank you! And the same for you. Amazing how quickly it has passed. I miss the Christmas music still 🙂

  6. MindOverMeta · December 30

Beautiful list of thankfuls, especially the last one “This day; the only day”. Hope you had a lovely Christmas 🙂

    • GirlieOnTheEdge · December 30

Thank you. Yes, the last one. I strive to never loose sight of the fact tomorrow is promise to no one.
I did. I hope your was as well 🙂

  7. herheadache · December 31

    Don’t stop. Great advice.

    Music is my salvation too.

I love to listen to geese fly over me also. I did it and wrote about it just the other week actually.. Lots of Canada geese around here. They always sound like they are having such heated discussions though.

    Happy 2018!

    • GirlieOnTheEdge · January 1

Isn’t it a wonderful sound?! How lucky for you, Kerry! They all fly home to Canada 😀
Would that we could understand what they are saying! Hm…would make a good children’s book, non?

Thank you Kerry and Happy 2018 to you! May it be filled with music and creative ideas and many published writings!
