Ten and Counting. The Thankfuls.

Welcome. No longer on the road again, vehicle parked, I’m stationary. For now anyway. Good time to lay down some tracks thanks. If you’re like me and enjoy driving, being behind the wheel of a car (any car) then you know road trips can often turn into, if not an adventure, a very enjoyable experience. In unexpected ways. Of course, being a clark, I find it difficult to accurately describe (so I won’t even try!) that which either made me laugh for the surreal split second of a moment (Thankful #4), or made me smile for the instant flashback of a movie of my own making in which I never starred, lol (Thankful #9). Once upon a time, a week ago today, shortly after sunrise, I became one with my vehicle, one with the highway and began the journey north for the holiday week. I am thankful:

#1  A safe trip. Relatively good traffic (except Connecticut) and no rain.

#2  The generosity of Clark and Phyllis and the awesome company of Una.

#3  Being able to spend time with my other brother.

#4  Where? At Vince Lombardi Service Area, NJ Turnpike.

#5  Sunshine for the last 2 1/2 days of my visit.

#6  Decorating Tree Forts with Christmas lights and wreath.

#7  Drives on country roads.

#8  Movies/film. Conduits of emotion.

#9  Where? Service area on NJ Turnpike. (again, NJ. Coincidence? lol)

#10 Today, all day. The only day.

Sounds like you had a great trip. I am now curious about the service area, but also understand the “you had to be there” of some situations. 🙂

I did. Always nice to get away but the best part is being back home and around family 🙂
Definitely had to be there, lol. 2 highlights in an otherwise uninteresting drive 😀

      Glad you liked!
Yeah, about that. Figured holidays not necessarily time convenient for everyone. Meet in CT? I appreciate the the offer but I’d rather come see where the wild bear live and Skip once roamed 😀 Besides, would you really deprive Joulie of her new hostess duties, showing me around the ranch and such ?:D

It was a good week. Una enjoys company. Your drive (to and from) is a most impressive one, given the variety of conditions and superfluity of the cars, trucks and SUVs that fill the lanes of travel.
The last distraction from the coming winter is, alas, behind us.

      I miss her already 🙂
Both to and fro were within records times and luck was with me!
      ….until the 21st…..

Yay! Glad you made it back safely. Connecticut traffic, I have learned, is as bad as New York traffic on that I-95. WOWZA. But if you settle into it and just enjoy the ride…
And it looks like you get to go back on the 21st of…December?
Oh and I found an interesting new band…they’re Vikings…or something. But I really like their music and totally thought of tagging you and Clark..https://youtu.be/QRg_8NNPTD8?list=WL Then again, music is so subjective. You may or may not like it, lol.

Thank you. Weird. As soon as you cross over, within a couple of miles traffic always, for some reason, backs up. All you can do is go with the flow 😀
No, lol. At least I don’t think so! I was referring to the 21st being the longest day of the year and the next day….the days start getting longer!!
Thank you for the link. I do like it! Very percussive. Soothing.

PS – she starts singing at 3:08 – they do a lot of intro but when she starts singing it’s…very pre-Germanic. lol

      It was all good, Viola.
Thanks 🙂 You have a great week too!

NJ service areas are in a class all by themselves! Visited a trendy one and felt like I was in a food court at a high end mall! Weird, having been to some in the 80s and 90s that have a different atmosphere.
Glad you like driving, and the road opened up and let you zone into the motion.

That’s an excellent description, lol. The Vince Lombardi definitely had a “different” atmosphere!
Me too 😀 It did and oddly, the trip both going and coming, didn’t seem to take that long.

That’s the way to travel! I find one way or the other seems to take longer — mentally, not in reality.

The only object that I recall feeling “becoming one with” was the experience of learning to fly a kite. I’ll never forget that.
Decorating tree forts would have been fun, and maybe a little like Santa’s workshop inside.
I’m glad you had a safe and enjoyable trip and Thanksgiving.

That must have felt totally awesome!
It has become somewhat of a tradition as this was my 3rd Thanksgiving with Clark and Phyllis 🙂 Now, that is a very cool idea…Santa’s workshop… 😀
      Thank you, Pat 🙂
