Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Six Sentence Stories! It’s all about the prep, right? We all have different approaches when it comes to the writing process but I can’t help wondering – is the approach to writing static or does it conform to the structure and style of the piece we’re writing? Do the words influence how we write? Tell me your thoughts in the comment section. In the meantime, I hope I can influence you to join us in the fun of writing and linking up a Six Sentence story, essay or poem or even an excerpt from your new book. Doors open tonight for the early birds. The rest of us, see you beginning tomorrow 😀 Read you soon!

Sometimes to words inspire a certain thought and I write to that and sometimes I look at a form and see how I can best use the word in the form. Mainly, though, I focus on which way I can best express the meaning of the word. When it means several things, that just lends to more creativity.

Thank you for sharing, Lisa. I’ve never taken a deliberate or organized approach to writing. The quote by Octavia Butler caused me to re-evaluate how I approach writing – never been a habit in the way I think she means it 🙂 Reassessment to approach is in order 😀
