Feeling Minnesota. It’s a 6.

“You claim to be a master of self control, proficient to near perfection. Control is one of your outstanding attributes, is it not?”

Well yes, I suppose I’ve always considered myself capable of control under most any circumstance; always perform well under pressure.

“And yet, you do not see the conflict, do not see control as antithesis of the goal?

So, what, you’re telling me to surrender, to relinquish control?

“If you wish to be free.”

Thank you, Mimi. Your comment allowed me to read my own Six from a completely different perspective! And from that, you are so very right.
The challenge for me has been to engage in what Don Juan (in the Castaneda books) referred to as “controlled folly”. If I were to more successfully relinquish my “ability” at control, I daresay my energy would be diverted to attempting “controlled folly” in its stead.

Interesting six! Control is kinda in the middle like the number six.

Great Six that can be understood at several levels I suspect.

Thank you, Pat. I believe so. This Six was kind of a stream of consciousness thing.

I like it. That’s a thoughtful piece. What sprang to my mind was being on a rollercoaster… clutching the sides, teeth clenched, rigid, as if you are somehow controlling the car -VS- arms in the air, whooping with delight and abandon as the car controls you?
    (FWIW I wouldn’t get within fifty paces of a rollercoaster 😨)!! 🙂

Thank you. Love your analogy. Have to admit I was never the arms in the air person, lol but I can say I never clenched my teeth 😀
Hey, I’m with you on that one. Gone are those days for me!

The Teaching of Don Juan? Is that the book you’re referring to? Read the three books many many years ago. Love your six!

I thought I recognized this! I’ve forgotten more about college than I can tell you!

I like the apparent contradiction in letting go to be free. It’s what I was going for in the June 19 prompt, “release”. Or perhaps your mc is considering the Kenny conundrum, when to hold ’em, when to fold ’em. It’s a thinkin’ Six, for sure.
