By a thread? It’s a 6.

everything looks, appears the same, clock hands still move clockwise
and “hello, how are you” still rings true
look closely nevertheless, more there than simple surprise
fear, uncertainty circumnavigate inside a solitary cage
and distrust, ballast tanks filled, surfaces to ask “what’s the angle
while the reality of an alternate life rehearses well off stage

The idea of your poem reminds me a little of Pete Seegers ” little boxes on the hillside, made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same”, but with a twist. Look deep inside that sameness and you’ll find something completely different.

I’m not really familiar with Pete Seeger’s songs other than the more popularized ones so just took a listen to Little Boxes.
Cool that song lyrics popped into your head! So very true. Each of us, has a uniqueness not replicable (I think it’s a word, lol). While some are “what you see is what you get”, others are layered in a bit of mystery 🙂

Didn’t think of it till I read your comment, but yes it is a little like Pete Seegers song.

to concentrate enough to play the role convincingly, yet not so focused as to lose sight of the stage lights

I kind of hate when Clark gets to places first and says the things I was going to say! LOL But yeah, what he said. And also brings to mind the question of life imitating art – or vice versa? Nice poetic six.

That darned Clark! What’s up with that?! 😀
A long debated question. Kinda makes you want to break out the Aristotle, huh? 😀
      Thank you, Lisa.

What Lisa said, and… very good; nothing is ever the same from now on…right?

    Always love coming here
