Fields on fire. It’s a 6.

bonds loosed, fissure emerging in the veneer of connectivity

stalwart joyful poppy, remaining progeny bears witness to barren field

well rooted, tremors absorbed, the march begun

towards and away, direction unimportant to those unconcerned

symbol of defiance, singular, steady, therapy to the masses

stand, stalwart joyful poppy

Hi D. Kudos! Wow, that’s a well powerful piece, and the free structure gives it a relentless punch after punch from the first word to last. The poppy is a powerful image, not just because of war but the opium connection too. ‘Stalwart joyful poppy’ is such a good line. Sounds like a hymn!
Funny, because before I listened to your Shinedown accompanying song, I already had your words against a metal soundtrack in my head. Never listened to Shinedown before so ta 🙂 love the vox and industrial vibe to that song. Bravo for the six!

Hey, V! I appreciate your feedback and impressions. I’ve only written a couple of “poetry” pieces for the Six.
Of course you did 🙂 What was it? (metal soundtrack)
You know, never picked up on that but yeah, a little of the industrial. Thank you!

I think poetry works well for the six and is a good challenge within those constraints.
I thought a bit of war song themes like Metallica’s ‘One’ and ‘Disposable Heroes’, then ‘Shell Shocked’ by Manowar. But these were just comparisons, your words have their own unique melody and tempo that made me think ‘soundtrack’. Long live poems! (and rock n roll) 🙂

That is the beauty of poetry. Often words can have as many “meanings” as there are individuals reading them.
Back in the day, when I wrote a lot of it, structure was key in my “guiding” the reader. But then, that most likely was ego, lol.
Cool. Metallica is in my top 10 favorite bands 😀 Thank you. Being a musician, you, like me, are usually always thinking “soundtrack” 🙂
