My lover, my life, we walked and ran, tumbled and swam currents weak and strong
Never to imagine youth abandoning our heart, “puis qu’une telle fleur ne dure
que du matin jusques au soir”
Come, lay beside me, travel the years, carefully we’ll comb through the laughter and tears
Two as one staring down fear, friendship forged forever, in stardust it would appear
Howling screaming wind crashing surf, continuo, scorched sand now sent steady, hourglass etched and worn
My lover, my life, let us marvel at all and light the match… nothing left to mourn
*I love the studio version from Elegant Gypsy (turn it up to 11), but this, this shows the beauty and magic. I am fortunate to have seen these 2 perform back in the day.
Beautiful, lyrical!
And the guitar work soars!

Damn fine poem, D. Elegant and romantic, and with moments of rhyme, and movement with nature. I also like the Ronsard poem you linked – the fleeting beauty of a flower, and us by comparison.

Thank you, V 🙂 The Ronsard poem. I cannot even tell you how I came upon it. The mysteries of writing and the internet!

I like the thought of them “combing” through their laughter and tears together.

I love your wonderfully rich poem; it really speaks to me. I’ve long been a fan of Paco de Lucia, although sadly I’ve never seen him perform live. Both your words and the music you’ve shared inspire me this morning. 🙂

Thank you, Chris. Those words “really speaks to me” are words writers so hope to hear but may never or not very often hear. I was “introduced” to Paco when I started listening to Al around 1980. Incredible musicians. I hope your inspiration takes you to new and exciting places 🤗

Most excellent background music for the Six café. (On a Thursday night, ’cause these guys have not yet been discovered by anyone other than the patrons. A couple of very low key stage lights, just enough for the performers to see where they put their drinks and cigarettes. The crowd (on a Thursday night is a combination of chrono-refuges from École des Beaux-Arts and Greenwich village.
The tables are round, ciggarette scarred and close enough together to share a dream.
Hell of a place you the proprietress of.

I was honored to have them play, been a long time since I’ve listened to them. Always a cool crowd at the Six café. Sharing’s what it’s all about.
Again, many thanks. I enjoy your participation, your patronage and hey, spread the word – this is one café where seating is unlimited 😎
