A TToT. Just because…

Last weekend was not a great weekend. Kinda weird. Naturally, a song immediately came to mind (after the “oddest” experience of the afternoon). Geez. How appropriate. And damn catchy. The song? FFDP’s “A Little Bit off Today“. [If you listen to the song via the link or vid below, know there are a few words some may find offensive. Heads up.] In my younger years, every now and again I’d write to a melody of whatever might be playing in my head at the moment. Today, as I literally ran down a steep (you know – the steep that sends you so crazy fast you hope your body can keep up with your feet?), big ass hill, a couple of words popped into my head. And it immediately began reading internally with the aforementioned melody. Today’s Thankfuls begin with those words:

1.) Ran down a hill today, a pretty big hill today, didn’t even stumble
ran down a hill today, pretty big hill today, didn’t fall and didn’t tumble.

Sun catchin’ in the wind today, was a pretty nice day today
danced for life and everybody,
sun catchin’ in the wind today, it was a pretty nice day today
walked it long for everyone

Ran down a pretty big hill today, didn’t fall and didn’t tumble
ran down a pretty big hill today, kept me honest, kept me humble
Sun catchin’ in the wind today, was a pretty nice day today
danced and walked for everyone

2.) The beauty of this day. Before a storm.

3.) Music

4.) Six Sentence Stories and the writers past and present. All enhance my creative landscape.

5.) Ten Things of Thankful and Dyanne! Lizzi, the creatoress of this hop has passed the torch. Dyanne is our current successor host of this most wonderful of blog hops. Go Dyanne!

6.) My job. The security it offers in a time of uncertainty for so many.

7.) The ability to move, walk, see, hear – to have my senses intact (I think I’ve got them all, lol)

8.) Used bookstores.

9.) the Wakefield Doctrine.

10.) This day. The only day.

Yeah! So good to read your TToT post. Love that poem, and if this is based on a real life experience, I am so glad you didn’t tumble. I remember how exhilarating it felt to run fast down a hill, staying upright the whole way. These days that could only happen in a dream. HaHa

It felt so good to write it, Pat. Oh yeah, real life. Only yesterday! It was a gorgeous day, all blue sky and bright sunshine, light breeze, (cold as all get out) but we were supposed to get snow overnight into Sunday (we did!) and I wasn’t sure if I’d be walking today (Sunday). Did my typical 2 mile, mostly hill walk. On the return I decided (why?? lol) to run down the last big hill. As velocity increased, I had a flash of what’re you doin’? you’re not a kid anymore ๐Ÿคฃ Thank you, Pat. No tumble. See? You know I was having fun. If vivid dream, then next best thing ๐Ÿ˜€
We can get lost in them can’t we ๐Ÿ™‚

I like the lyrics and pace of it, D. A good spin on the FFDP tune. The UK band Idles did something similar with their track Samaritans and the lyric: “I’m a real boy, boy, and I cry, I love myself and I want to try” which was a spin on Nirvana’s “I Hate Myself and Want to Die.’
Love how strenuous activity can conjure melody and words. I cycle to and from work, and sometimes good ideas can come.
    Agree with points #3 #4 and #8 ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thank you, V. Who knows why that tune ‘cuz I was having a great morning, great walk! Hey, thanks. Will check out Idles.
You’re right, it can. You do? Excellent! But what do you do when those awesome lines come into your head and you can’t write them down? ๐Ÿ˜€
Do you have far to ride? You cycle in bad weather?
Love that you join in at the SSS.
#3 and #8. They’re what makes the world go round. All we need ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Hiya D. It’s only 4 km to work so not far, plus it’s on a picturesque cycle route. If a line comes I just hope to remember it ๐Ÿ™‚ And yes, all weathers. Have warm and waterproof gear. I absolutely won’t drive here in the south east, they’re all insane!
Work made me miss my SSS for ‘ocean’. Shame as I had something half written but couldn’t complete. Less crazy work schedule for this upcoming week, so looking forward to joining in again ๐Ÿ™‚
And all we need? Yes, you’re right ๐Ÿ˜Ž

You be a road warrior, V ๐Ÿ™‚ I seem to recall a bit of a crazy cab ride when I was there in ’84 so don’t blame you, lol
Look forward to your SSS ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Road Warrior? Ooh, Mad Max ๐Ÿ˜Ž
So you were here in 84? Why and where? I was in Stafford, Midlands, UK, in 84. Never imagined I’d be here so many years later. As for the future… who knows where we’ll end up?
Look forward to your SSS too! ๐Ÿ™‚

LOL. That too, V, though truth be told, prefer Road Warrior. Saw it in the theater when it came out. Very cool movie at the time (funny I got no speeding tickets those weeks afterwards ๐Ÿ˜Ž).
My oldest brother liked to travel. Invited me on his latest trip. He’d booked a tour that included Paris for a few days. Very memorable. Same trip had us in England for a week also. You’re a long way from home. Miss it? C’est vrai. Who knows?
              Thanks!

Road Warrior is crazy ace. I also like Beyond Thunderdome. Have you seen Fury Road? What a film ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Paris = road madness + South East France = road madness. Avoid.
Did you go elsewhere in Europe? Would you like to come again? Which parts? I would like to go to Germany. And Italy for the food, coffee and ice cream!
I only miss the UK a bit. Since Brexit have fallen out of love. A shame and pity what happened there.
Yeah! Who knows, right? All part of the excitement of a future unknown.

Beyond Thunderdome was good. I haven’t seen Fury Road except for bits and pieces. Couldn’t get past a “new” Road Warrior, lol.
Nowhere else that trip. ’95 trip, I was in England and Ireland, a week in each. Haven’t given it thought in years. Germany would be cool. Italy for sure. For. The. Food ๐Ÿ˜€
I think that would make me a little sad.
