Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
An exercise in patience? Challenge to embrace new technology? It would appear I experience both of these things since last week’s “surprise! we re-configured your blog for you because we can“. A special thanks to Doug, Cassa Bassa and Chris for suggesting fixes and offering commiserations 😀 My tech difficulties say more about me than about WordPress, lol. And so it is with writing. At the end of the day, it boils down to wanting to write (regardless of skill level) and what we’re willing to do in order to get better at it. While it appears to be a mountain too high too climb (for some of us), it’s about the gradual incline toward the summit. I may not have a personal Sherpa to guide me however, I do have all of you and this growing community of Sixers. For that, I am grateful. As to the upcoming edition of Six Sentence Stories, I invite everyone to share your creative selves via 6 and no more than 6 sentences of flash fiction, poetry, soc or the next scene from your as yet unpublished book. Return to GirlieOnTheEdge this coming Wednesday, link the URL to your Six and let’s go exploring.
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Return here, link your post Wednesday night through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers
PROMPT WORD: GEAR
“As a writer, you should not judge, you should understand.” – Ernest Hemingway

You’re not the only one experiencing technical difficulties as a result of last weeks Gutenberg invasion. Many others are struggling as well. This just goes to show that wordpress doesn’t care about those who use their blogging site for free. Oh well, I’m glad you found a fix. Eventually, I’ll figure it out, too. Happy blogging!

If it makes you feel any better, I have a paid WordPress account and I was not spared. They are ruthless 😞

I also have a paid site on WordPress, and I have the classic editor plug-in. Since you’re paying for your site, you might still be able to get that plug-in for free. I’d love to move my blog to my website, but I don’t want to lose any followers in the process. Anyway, good luck.

No, I imagine I wasn’t the only frustrated person on the planet, lol. I’m sorry you’re having a rough time of it, Abbie. It took me forever to write today’s post simply because I had to figure out where to get stuff/how to do things… On top of that, I don’t care one bit for the text color palette available. In the end, I made the decision to try and embrace the new format even though a part of me wants to resist on principle 😆
If you ever feel a need to vent, stop by. We can commiserate together 🙂

Hemingway is such a great writer. I envy how effortless his prose seems. Still, undaunted, I will be gearing up for this week’s challenge! This is such fun 🙂

I too have a paid site and they defaulted me to blocks plus sacked my old admin page. No notice, no info. Managed to reset to bring back the classic editor (until they eventually junk that too). Not impressed at all with our WP overlords.
On a positive, I love my SSS buddies here, and big thanks to D for keeping this weekly buzz going 😊😍😀😎

I remember you mentioning that, V. I read last week somewhere Classic Editor will be history for everyone sometime in 2023.
Everyone is fabulous and I’ve so enjoyed being emcee of the SSS. Glad you found us 😊

Hiya, D. Yes, I read yesterday on the forums from the staff members themselves, they are definitely phasing classic editor out.
Glad I found y’all too 😊

Thank you, Neel. I’m a little better but it still took way longer to write this post, lol. I’m happy more and more people are deciding to participate in SSS. It can get kind of addictive once you write 1 or 2 😀
Please come back on Wednesday to link your Six! Read you soon!!
