Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
Today’s post provides the building block (or not) for the next Six Sentence Story you write. The prompt word may be the inspiration for a Six or an incidental to your Six. Wednesday is the big invite and link up post. It’s where the party is. No bouncers at the door, no cover charge. All you do is link the URL to your Six Sentence story, poem, musing, missive or next scene via the blue “Click here to enter” Inlinkz invite, walk through the doors and…have a good time! Last Sunday’s post I entertained suggestions for prompt words and three writers responded. Without further ado, may I present this week’s prompt word, courtesy of Susan of Sillyfrog’s Blog. Thank you, Susan!
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Return here, link your post Wednesday night through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers 😀
PROMPT WORD: IMPROVISE
“The time to begin writing an article is when you have finished it to your satisfaction. By that time, you begin to clearly and logically perceive what it is you really want to say.”
– Mark Twain
Improvise! Wonderful – just do what it says on the tin 🙂

I really like this prompt. It made me think back to my teaching days. I always had to improvise. Either the lesson plan wasn’t working or technology was unavailable, but I always had to be quick to come up with something different and still engaging for my students.

Aha! Yes, I can imagine there’s a lot of improvisation being a teacher. No doubt never a dull moment, lol
If you’ll be writing a Six, the link is open on the “It’s Six Sentence Story Thursday Link Up!” post. Hope to see you there. Link goes live at 6:00 tonight.
Thank you for the follow 🙂

After I wrote a story last week, it got me excited to keep writing six sentence stories. I feel like so much can be said with a short amount of words. I also enjoy writing 99 word stories. These types of prompts keep you having to focus on what the real meat of the story is and just cut off the fat to get to what really needs to be said.

I enjoyed your Six last week. It is amazing. True that sometimes less is more. I totally agree about a tool to improve writing skills. The 99 word story challenge? That is a tough one.

Carrot Ranch gives weekly prompts for 99 words only stories. I have many of them on my website. I feel like having that tight of a limitation has made me a better writer.
