Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
In Sunday’s word prompt post of May 2nd, I entertained suggestions for future word prompts. To our delight, 3 writers:  Susan, Chris and Paula, provided 3 excellent words. This week’s word is the 3rd and final suggestion, courtesy of Paula. Taking a cue from the word (no pun intended, lol), let’s consider the concept of “letting go.” Sometimes it’s in our best interest. As writers, this is easier said than done. Yet, the “experts” have shown us when all the words are written, when the story appears complete, it very well may not be. Until we go back and read it yet again. “Oh, that’s just the edit phase“. True statement. Yet, how often returning to a draft do we realize that perhaps a character isn’t needed? Maybe we thought we knew the story but a secondary character insists otherwise? That’s some pretty (insert prompt word here) stuff! The challenge for us is the ability to let go of a scene, or a setting or, yes… even a character. “Extinguish them before they have a chance at life or kill them for the sake of the story“?! Perhaps. But in the end, if we make those difficult cuts, we invariably have the story that was meant to be. Enjoy your week everyone. Write as much as you are able, enjoy it and come back this Thursday to share a Six Sentence Story.

Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers 😀

That’s a powerful reminder not to let my characters get out of hand. I, the omnipotent author, think one is going to have to change gender for the sake of a better story in my WIP novel 😉

It is and I’m fortunate to have a mentor to remind me of it.
Aha! That is a major switch up but no doubt will be fun to write 🙂
