Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
I should be driving by the exit to Rye, New York about now, which is signal that a mere 20 miles or so up ahead is the GW Bridge and almost halfway back but…I’m not. I decided around midnight last night, to extend vacation by a day. Thanks to Spira’s comment at my recent Six, my head began to do the twist on the metaphorical dance floor that is my mind, lol. He mentioned he’d watched the movie Tenet. If you’re familiar with some of Christopher Nolan’s movies then you’ll get where I’m coming from. I found myself wondering about scenarios of what might/could have happened had I stuck to the original plan. In other words, doubt appeared. Then I asked myself: what does it matter? Answer: it doesn’t matter. Same principal applies to writing. We begin a storyline, we find ourselves drifting a little, then a tug, “hey what about if we go here”….sometimes we resist believing we’ve got to stick to the original plot line. But what if? What if we veer off the imagination highway? Don’t we want to see what else might be around? I’m thinking the answer should be a resounding “hell, yeah!” Enjoy your travels and I’ll meet you all at the appointed place and timeline 🙂

PROMPT WORD SHIFT

The ability of writers to imagine what is not the self, to familiarize the strange and mystify the familiar, is the test of their power.” – Toni Morrison

My plots are constantly SHIFTing and meandering but eventually they must be disciplined and brought into line! 🙂
