Sand Bags for Sale. It’s a 6.

tears stream, floodwaters shift, river banks overflow, caution deluge, find refuge, if left

no one to rescue, boots you’ve got so walk, accept truth of one more brutal theft

arsenal low, supply deficient for demand, restock resources, hunker down

location not fixed, emotion present no matter miles, no matter the town

carry weight, endless sand to dirt, rebuild levees, here, this very spot

walk banks of never should have been, heartache bull’s eye dot

So much pain and heartache. I hope the levee is rebuilt with stronger materials and more knowledge. Excellent 6!

A universe full. In process, always stronger, always more knowledge. Thanks, sis!

    👏👏
(Of course it is a coincidence I read your Six after listening to the IM latest single ” Writing on the wall”…or is it? )

Awesome, D. You chose Maiden as the sauce and I chose Slayer, so now you made my eve too 🙂
Love that tune, seems apt for your ecological nightmare Six considering all the floods and fires and heat going on around the world in which we must struggle against government inaction.
One of the Sixes I didn’t choose for me this week also touched on these points. It seems we’re destined to burn and drown, despite many years of warnings.

Funny we were both riding a heavy music wave. Glad I could return the favor, V 🙂
And I love that you found a meaning in this piece apart from the actual catalyst for this Six. “Nightmare” is apt descriptor in either case.
So, I re-read my Six using your lens of “ecological nightmare”. Such the nature and magnificent beauty of art, no matter medium. Truly, it is in the eye of the beholder. (I know…Babbling… need mega zzz’s, lol)
I don’t disagree with your assessment. While our planet and people continue to suffer as the effects from climate change seem to run rife, wealth and power continue to flex their muscles. It often feels as if response(s) and subsequent action to implement strategies to mitigate the damage incurred (from accelerating climate change) is slow.

Yes, ecological matters were on my mind, D, so I think I easily found some of those flavours in your Six, and certain lines poked at me for attention.
I read today that in Athens the govt has appointed a ‘chief heat officer’ to try and find ways to cool the city down due to excess heating. A good move in the right direction, and hopefully other cities around the world will do the same. In Florida they also have a ‘chief heat officer’ but nowhere else as yet.

Thank you for sharing that info, V. Don’t know anything about the Atlantic Council, but just read the announcement at their website about the appointment of Greece’s ‘chief heat officer’. It also said the mayor of Paris strongly supports the CCHA so perhaps in the future, Paris may have a “chief heat officer” as well.
I agree it’s a good move in the right direction.

I too read this with the ecological disasters in mind. I’ve enjoyed reading your comments. 😉

Powerful words that, to me, painted an image of a warrior leaving the battlefield. Never been a big Iron Maiden fan but I liked that one.

And for that, I am sorry, Mimi. It does in the most awful of ways. Many more.
