Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
Brevity. There are writers who excel at storytelling in amazingly few words, short sentences. For some of those writers, the expression of concise, clear thoughts in few words come naturally. For many writers, it requires practice. And so we Sixers, “Sixarians” (may I, Spira?), participate in this writing challenge, this blog hop, Six Sentence Stories. To hone our writing skills, to share in our creative works, to engage socially, professionally. Please join us in this growing community of writers and artists in search of excellence as we share flash fiction, serial stories, true life memoire-ettes, poetry and at times, simple stream of consciousness pieces (“soc”). Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have difficulty linking your story on Thursday. The light is always on. Read you soon!
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers 😀
PROMPT WORD: NEBULOUS
“Something that you should take particular notice of is the fact that the best scripts have very few explanatory passages. Adding explanation to the descriptive passages of a screenplay is the most dangerous trap you can fall into. It’s easy to explain the psychological state of a character at a particular moment, but it’s very difficult to describe it through the delicate nuances of action and dialogue. Yet it is not impossible. A great deal about this can be learned from the study of the great plays, and I believe the “hard-boiled” detective novels can also be very instructive.” – Akira Kurosawa
By all means 🙂
