The Best Laid Plans. It’s a 6.

Review: America's own Faust fable reaches a crossroads – The Superstitious Times

Even in the wreckage of the post-apocalyptic world, all but the most damaged recall the legend of the “Crossroads”, the one place the misguided and the desperate, the egoist and the fool, believe they can bargain with an entity older than the earth. Where better to sell or buy a soul than where two roads originating from opposite directions converge, the irony not lost on those lives about to change…

Jaya and her companion Seven, all golden retriever in determination and flowing coat, spent days tracking the group of rabids who took Ryan. Finally, locating them in an abandoned warehouse near the corner of Bloomdale Rd. and Redbud Dr., they were ready to implement their plan. Jaya was certain Ryan was still alive; when the question was posed, Seven barked his affirmation.

Theirs was now a rescue mission.

It looks they may be able to rescue Ryan. The supernatural bargain sounds ominous.

I’m feeling very confident, Frank. So very. And yet the legend persists. Makes one wonder if it’s based on truth.

    Calm before the storm…
(The Crossroads analogy works perfectly. But is it just one??)🤫

Cannot have one without the other.
(You ask the question, Spira. I hear the statement. “Rules” pre-apocalypse no longer have context. New world. New “rules”. Nothing is off the table.)

I have an idea when… and by our current standards, it was late.
The exact date you may not know, Denise… but you do know the qualitative shift that transformed Spira to Nick.

Those first two sentences are one of the best summaries/intros/observations I’ve ever read about the legend of the Crossroads. Good move, D, to incorporate that into your apocalyptic tale 😎
