Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
Thank you everyone for a fabulous week of storytelling! Let’s give a big welcome to all the new writers! Amazing, isn’t it, how computers, technology, and the internet have re-defined distance. No longer is a person “far away” simply for living in another state or country. Every single person on the planet with access to a computer (or phone) and an internet connection, is as available as if they were our next door neighbor. Way cool. And we all know what’s coming next, lol. Me saying, “and you know what else is cool?” But come on, you know it’s true 😁. Six Sentence Stories. Within a mere, and exact, 6 sentences, we build worlds, travel this and any other planet, explore history, create drama and mystery, solve crimes and wax poetic… Writing a Six is anything but (insert prompt word). We’d love to read everyone again this week and to the remaining population on the planet – you catch this post in your browsing, why not join us?
Have a most excellent week, Sixarians. Read you soon.

Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers 😀

PROMPT WORDMUNDANE

The writer must be a participant in the scene… like a film director who writes his own scripts, does his own camera work, and somehow manages to film himself in action, as the protagonist or at least the main character.” – Hunter S. Thompson

Hate to be the internet Grinch but it’s worth remembering that 40% of the world’s population doesn’t have any internet access at all, including the 15% who don’t have access to electricity. Of those that do, billions live under regimes that restrict their usage. Oh, and 15% of people globally are illiterate and 40% of people are functionally illiterate (i.e. unable to communicate effectively or comprehend most of what they read), which probably explains social media. 😉 Those of us who have the benefit of the access and the skills need to remember that not everyone is able to be your neighbour.

You are not the “internet Grinch”, Doug. Many of those thoughts were present as I wrote today’s post. The disparities that exist and their subsequent effect/consequence, well, you’ve stated some stark and sobering statistics. It is true. Thank you for reminding us.

I am preparing my second story (made-up lie) and want to be sure I understand what to do/how to submit.

I did join the link up and somehow it worked last time. But it seemed all a hit or miss thing and worked without my really knowing what I was doing.

I remember seeing some directions about how to do the linking and putting a picture in but don’t find those directions now. Not even sure I could follow them.

This time I am not adding a graphic but do want my butterfly avatar on the linked page.

Probably being a bit paranoid …. but will leave that for another story. 😉

Any bit of help will be appreciated. 🙂

Hi Lady S. Glad to hear you’re working on a Six for this week!
Sundays I give everyone the prompt word to use for their Six Sentence Story.
Then on Wednesday evenings I publish a post with the Inlinkz tool. When you click on the blue box, “Click here to Enter”, you’re taken to a second page where you link a copy of the URL to your Six. Once linked the thumbnail will appear on this page where everyone can then click on your thumbnail and be taken directly to your Six.
Let me know if you have any difficulty. You’ll be able to link your Six at 6:00 pm US EST when the link goes live.

Thanks! Sounds like a plan! 🙂 What can go wrong?
I like the part that says “everyone can then click on your thumbnail.” 😉
