Transtemporal. It’s a 6.

…”You the guy on the phoneRoger?”

Nick’s question boomed, echoes resonating, errant soundwaves in search of a solid surface. The effect was not so much from the authoritative tone of the bearded Proprietor’s voice but more from the unusual circumstance the Six Sentence Café and Bistro was empty, the exceptions being Nick, the Bartender and the musician without a band, Roger. It was well known as the popularity of the Café grew, so too the rumors surrounding its origins and the 7 Proprietors who frequented the establishment; as the mystique evolved so too an aura of “otherworldliness”; business was good.

“Yeah, so that must make you, Nick”, sarcasm dripped from the musician’s mouth like sap from a newly tapped maple; the bearded man volleyed, “Say Rog, you forget to bring the rest of the band?”

Nick and the Bartender, sharing a harmony culled from free floating cosmic debris, smiled at each other without moving a muscle in their faces; Nick took out his phone, sent a quick text, his chestnut brown eyes fixed on Roger, “A drummer will be here in 30 minutes, you already met the bass player, so make yourself useful and help me set up the house equipment; we’ll just see what you can do“.

You know we’re expecting a music video when the band’s all here, right? 🤗🎶🤗

How about some spoken word poem-lyrics? If not, grab an instrument, Chris… there are tons of musical goodies in storage behind the stage 🎸🥁🎹🎷🎤🎙🎺🎻

        (SSC&Binnerworkingsleak):
Let’s do the same scene, ie what follows Transtemporal, from each Proprietor ‘s perspective.

The characters, the places, the smells and sounds, the interactions…hammered, folded, hammered, folded until they become the wordsblade you wield.

And then, there is something else.
The unspoken, unwritten, invisible but to those hearts who have walked that tin pan alley; and they, in their turn, need no signs to guide them home.
That you have a unique way to encapsulate in what some may even call a signature move or guitar lick.
In other words, (yours to be exact):
“Nick and the Bartender, sharing a harmony culled from free floating cosmic debris, smiled at each other without moving a muscle in their faces;”.

Better warm up those amp tubes and see if those boots were made, apart for walkin’,for rockin 🎸

May I keep the wordsblade sharp!
Never recognized a signature move/lick in my writing, but if you say there is… cool 😎
Oh yeah, warm those tubes ’till they’re red hot! Gonna be a whole lot of rockin’ going on at the SSC&B!

I thought I had left a ping here to my post of the the Duties of the Bartender.
I don’t think I know how to leave pings. 😦

Excellent, D 😎 Another vibe-some episode in the continuing adventures of the SSC&B! That’s what I love about the Proprietors… our multi-talents and resources making a band-less event suddenly band-some!

    didn’t work
The ‘Dude (to the 6th degree) didn’t pass through the ‘tml filters I guess.

    Excellent portaling*

    * not (yet) a real word or, even, a ‘real’ thing… but, to me, it represents the next level of power of writing:

to create a world? ok happens frequently

to bring to life engaging and interesting ‘characters’? a lesser proportion of fiction, demonstrated here in this Six

to connect the characters not only to themselves in their world, but, through a rather dubious (and surely unhealthy) touchstone of the dreams and memories of multiple writers?

    very cool

I can see it all, Denise. you’ve caught the atmosphere of the SSC&B. I particularly like the words and idea of ‘sharing a harmony culled from free floating cosmic debris’. Brilliant.

I know of a certain Proprietor who’s preferred table at the SSC&B affords her a unique view of the establishment and all who pass through its doors 😉
      Thank you, Jenne.

I like your description of sarcasm: “sarcasm dripped from the musician’s mouth like sap from a newly tapped maple”. I can see it coming out of Roger’s mouth.

They appear to be moving along. I believe there are adventures ahead for the 7 Proprietors.

Somehow in the times that I slipped from Six
    I missed out on proprietorship
so am a little at sea with these Cafe/Bistro bits
but as for this: “smiled at each other without moving a muscle in their faces;”
I read that and it has its place in whatever mix of Six your sentences stand and face
Nick; in time, in place; in harmony.
