“Holy shit, guys, what a wild night” – the Bartender, of the seven Proprietors, the one known as Denise, stepped into the neon and flickering fluorescent lighting that somehow established her domain in the Six Sentence Café & Bistro, separate yet powerful in the interior of the joint, but was noticed doing so as the light shifted ever so slightly.
The Thin Man and the Mimi (2 of the 7 Proprietors of the SSC&B), not only did not seem surprised, if anything showed the shared pride of parents of a family member returning from an uphill battle for a “B”, her flair being a banner of one who fought at a disadvantage yet reveled in all earned victories; the Bartender sat on the other side of the bar on the very same bar stool recently vacated by a man on a mission of magic and breakfast.
“So you guys want to hear about my night?” (it was not a question)
“Of course we do, Denise” (Mimi, the calm amidst all storms) cast a sideways glance at the Tall Thin Man, who, on cue, slowly made his way over to sit on a nearby bar stool, his face an etched plate portrait of Job.
“Was kinda wild…Nick (the Gatekeeper) and Ford (the Supplier) and I were hanging in the Café; Ford was tuning up the Café drum kit, figured it was a slow night, we’d have ourselves a little jam.
“You know, there’s a reason Nick’s called the Gatekeeper and no, not simply because he’s solid and stoic and as sturdy as the oldest tree in the world, which, by the way, is the Great Basin Bristlecone Pine… anyway, we’re about ready to plug in when there’s a knock on the door and Nick answers it…”
(Holding my breath)!

It looks like the slow night ended with the knock on the door.

It did indeed, Frank. Not an ending any of us imagined…

Oh WOWwwwwwwww! Love this: “his face an etched plate portrait of Job”. And I love that her question was not a question! So…now I know who you are! I’d like to say that Bedelia would visit the bar sometime…but it’s not likely 😉

Thank you, Zelda.
What?! I’m certain Bedelia and Finn would love the scones and I guarantee they’ll never taste pink lemonade anywhere as good as what’s served at the Six Sentence Café & Bistro 😄

Oh my, that does sound tasty…wonder what might happen if Finn took her there as a surprise…he feels on shaky ground at the moment 🙂 🙂 Give me a good prompt word…and we’ll see 🙂

“So you guys want to hear about my night?” (it was not a question) 😁😂🤣😎
Chapeau D! Another ‘Tales From The SSC&B’ nailed right there! Love how you incorporated (via the links) two others tales of the Café into yours!
Love too how you made that bar space your own… like it’s the control deck of some mother ship, or the cockpit of a rocket, or even Houston’s Mission Control! 🚀🛰🌌
The Interrupters are so cool! Love their blend of two tone, ska, rock and punk, and they can all sing!

Thank you, V!
How could I not?! 😎 Thanks to you and your Six, Tom’s Six and the Tall Thin Man’s comment (at Tom’s 6) – food for my muse. I had a most excellent time.
It is a rather comfortable place 🙂
One of those “happy” songs you put on repeat. Good head nod music or…. music that gets you out of your chair and onto the dance floor at the Bistro.

I guess I missed all the excitement. Maybe it’s something to do with the time zone, or maybe it hasn’t happened yet and I was there a day early?🤔 Either way, it’s a great tale you’re weaving here, D.

How did we miss you?! Maybe time zone… or space time continuum glitch… or as you say – hasn’t happened yet, lol
Thank you, Chris!

Most entertaining of Sixes.
(Agree with Ford, the cross-linkage adds to the depth of the story(ette).)
You have opened the door further on a multi-dimensional world/place/time/characters
Hey! Z. While tempted to simply cite the obvious Lou Reed song, word on the street (and in the parlors and parish halls) that brunch at the Café is sublime and invigorating at the same time.

Thank you, Clark.
And I’ve got to say, it’s really fun and cool. In short, most enjoyable! ‘Course not possible without all of you guys who hang at the Six.
Yeah, Zelda! What Clark said 😁

Now who wouldn’t want to visit this SSC&B, Denise? Intriguingly portrayed, so much atmosphere and hints at character – this Bartender! And the build-up to the knock on the door… We’re left hanging, wondering…

Glad you feel that way, Jenne!
Thank you!
Yes, that knock on the door…
