Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and another edition of Six Sentence Stories!
So here’s the scoop: in an effort to engage in optimal time management, I began to write this post on Monday evening. Writing, persisting in typing words I liked and thought you might enjoy however… I never found those words as my eyes began to get very heavy until sleep stealthily swept in threatening to take me. So, here I sit. Today, Wednesday. At my desk at work, looking out my office window on a blue sky day. Yes, today, tonight, is when the doors open to Six Sentence Stories and the Six Sentence Café and Bistro! We hope you’ll join us this week and share your creative selves by way of 6 and precisely 6 sentences. Genre is your choice. A poet at heart? Please, share with us your 6 sentences of poetry. Enjoy engaging in a bit of soc? By all means! Six Six Sentence Stories, a community of writers enjoying the art of writing. Read you soon?
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link the URL to your post via the blue “Click here to enter” button below.
Link is live Wednesday 6:00 PM, ends way late Saturday night!
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers 😀
PROMPT WORD: STRIKE
Not to worry milady, it is summer after all – management of time and the rest awaits at the corner, regardless.
And as the quote goes :
“There are times when what it is not breathed into words is more potent than any imaginable combination of them words”

True, yet it seems the corner has gotten quite crowded this week!
Thank you, Spira. I daresay I agree.

The John Banville quote is fabulous and intriguing! Thanks, Denise, for everything you bring to the table–and I hope you’ll enjoy my “6”😊

Yay! Looking forward to reading your Six, Nancy!
It is fun and yes, quite a challenge. In the good way, lol
Please let me know if you have any difficulty linking your URL.
I see from Abbie’s comment she had a bit of trouble but got linked up.

I’m always up for a writing challenge! A computer challenge is a different story. I’m now duking it out with WordPress over a problem with my notifications bar; they are not being very helpful. Grrr!! Thanks for the tip re my URL. If I run into problems, I’ll be sure to let you know. Thanks! See you on the edge!

Excellent! I can identify with that one, Nancy. Hey, best of luck with that, lol.
See you on the Edge!

I’m having trouble with the In Linkz site. I submitted a contact form to them about the issue, but I’m not even sure if that went through. So, here’s my link. https://abbiescorner.wordpress.com/2022/06/30/union-no-sixsentencedstorythursdaylinkup-writingprompts-inspiration/

Abbie, I’m sorry I hadn’t seen your comment when you were having difficulty linking.
I don’t have access when I’m at work to assist except when I’m at lunch.
I’m happy you were able to resolve the situation yourself and have linked up!

Well, either the situation resolved itself, or I was linked, even though it told me I wasn’t. I never heard back from the support folks at In Linkz, which doesn’t surprise me. Maybe they’re on strike. LOL! Anyway, I’m also glad I’m now linked up.

A question for you, Denise. Does my story need to be published first before I have a URL? If so, I can provide the URL (if I can find it!) once the story is published tomorrow AM. Thanks!

If I may, Yes – since you publish and your story is attached to its unique URL, then it is possible for you or anyone to link your story. It is not rare that we do it for the fellow writers here who find themselves hindered from doing so.

Yes, you may and I’m glad you did! I thought that was the case. I’m unsure about finding my unique URL – I think I know (I’m going under the assumption it’s the same I’d use if I were posting my story on Twitter). Anyway, I’m not sure so if you can point me in the right direction I’d appreciate it. Thanks so much for jumping in. Very kind of you to do so!

Hi Nancy, nice to meet you – I’m Nick.
Don’t mention it; as Denise would say, that’s how we do it here!
The URL is your web address for any particular “item” – for example here is the one for your Stuck post https://theelephantstrunk.org/2022/06/30/stuck/
Now using that you can link the post at the Inklinz; that is why you need to publish first.
And likewise, I could do it too. So, no worries – you just post your story and either Denise or me will link it.
Looking forward reading you ; I am partial to elephants , so…!
(Hope I didn’t come as pedantic; I am as illiterate as anyone when it comes to the tech stuff- just benefiting from past experiences.)

Hey, Nick. Great to meet you. Please, no worries and not pedantic in the least. Sooo happy for any help I can get. And I’m very partial to elephants, too! Who isn’t?? I’m taking a stab here that my URL for my story (which is called “Colette” and is being published 7/2) will be the same as the one used for ‘stuck’ except after .org it will appear as 2022/07/02/colette. Is that correct? Please say that’s correct? 🐘

You are correct and Denise just outlined for you the steps required . Welcome!

Hi Nancy. My apologies. I’ve been on the road since 6:00 am and now opening up the laptop.
I see you’ve met Nick. Excellent. He’s correct – our community here is special. We do look out for each other.
The linking up. As Nick said, you write your Six and then publish. Once published click on the title of your Six to bring it up as separate post. Copy the URL to the Six, click the Inlinkz box on the “It’s Six Sentence Story Thursday Link Up!” post
or! Let Nick or myself know if you have difficulty linking and we’ll link for you.
I’m slowly making the rounds and look forward to reading your Six. Welcome to Six Sentence Stories!
