Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
It’s a sunny, summer Sunday morning, so why, you ask am I playing Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Riviera Paradise” on the YTube? No, not the expected soundtrack to a let’s throw back the covers, let the screaming sun in and start the day!, lol. But who am I to question that particular click of the mouse? In the same way, who am I to choose the first words of the day written, tall coffee sitting bedside? Can’t tell you. So how is it we choose our topic or theme for a piece of writing? If there are regular characters in your arsenal well, you might let them do the talking while you take down their words. What if they’re on holiday? Or sleeping, or otherwise engaged? What does a writer do to begin? There are as many answers to that question as there are people reading this post. To you – I ask you to pick up your pens and pencils yet again, use the prompt word below and allow that to guide you to a place, situation, setting, person or persons and write about it in a story that is precisely 6 sentences in length. There are stories to be written. Stories to be read. Shall we do this together, here at the ‘Edge? This place, beginning Wednesday evening through Saturday next. Bring your words. Let’s find out where they take us.
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers 😀
PROMPT WORD: PATH
“I’m a writer, and everything I write is both a confession and a struggle to understand things about myself and this world in which I live. This is what everyone’s work should be-whether you dance or paint or sing. It is a confession, a baring of your soul, your faults, those things you simply cannot or will not understand or accept. You stumble forward, confused, and you share. If you’re lucky, you learn something.” – Arthur Miller

…and if you are very lucky, then you may find someone(s) who in respect of the nakedness of your soul, understand your confession.
Yes, let’s find out…

…and if does not understands, accepts.
Present and accounted for – both confessant and confessor.

Up & at ’em! (Takes a breathy sip of her own steaming cup)
Nice Arthur Miller quote. Mindfulness in the release of being fully present in one’s art. The cracks in our soul, cleansed in Process; it’s where the light comes in.
Good morning!

Yes, I believe you are correct, Liz. “where the light comes in.”

Just say ten Hail Payment Plans and one Our Happiness Engineer, and everything will be fine.

Mr Miller was clearly a pretty smart dude, but I don’t think that gives him the right to say ‘what everyone’s work should be’.

I would submit, Mr. Miller is merely expressing his feelings about writing.
Clearly, writing is a subjective experience.

I am finding that my path inhibits me in terms of time. If I could just wind those hands whichever way I want, I’d go backwards and forwards in time as I please. Maybe I’d even stop time. But the clock just ticks on. One day the clock ticking will cease. That will be when I wake up. <– six sentences right there. Haha.
