It appears a follow up to last week’s Runs Deep Six Sentence Story, a Café Six, is in order…
Angelique set her book aside as the young waiter approached, “s’il vous plait”, she gestured to a spot near the middle of the metal café table, the young man gracefully set down a plate of pastries and an espresso, with a grace that, somehow, did not surprise her, “merci“.
Angelique’s eyebrow refused to ignore the bookmark in the last pages of the book when she’d only just begun reading it… she pulled from the middle of the book’s pages, a telegram she received several days earlier that would alter the trajectory of her entire life path; not only hers but also Nick Létranger’s; the thought of the magnitude of that possibility made her entire body tingle – joy and sadness and yes, fear, for venturing into the unknown half a world away – overcome with emotion, Angelique was unaware she had fainted until she awakened in the arms of the young waiter, smelling salts in hand…
SECURITY TO 4th FLOOR, WEST WING, ROOM 279!, the voice over the hospital’s PA system held just a hint of irritation; 2 security officers arrived to find the head shift nurse trying to convince 2 men and a woman with ginger red hair, they needed to leave as the hospital had not yet located immediate family for the woman lying unconscious in the bed, hospital rules, leave voluntarily or be escorted from the premises.
“No way in hell you or these 2 goons are throwing us out of this room, Nurse Ratchet“, the woman with the ginger red hair, standing next to the irate bearded man, voice the calm in the eye of a hurricane, whispered to the man to her right, “do something Ford, you need to calm everyone down before this gets ugly.. you know who I’m talking about.”
“Marlene, isn’t it? pretty name, I’m reading your name badge correctly?…yes?…good…Marlene, what my dear friend is trying to tell you is we know this woman, and we know, she has none – we are the closest to immediate family Denise has, so if you feel as if you need to have us physically removed, you may try but I assure you, it will not look good for St. Vincent’s hospital to be accused of forcibly removing the only family this unconscious woman has”… voice smooth as the finest Italian silk, Ford continued until the nurse gave in, nodded to the security officers to leave, and soon followed.
Chris, Ford and Nick waited for the nurse to close the door… “dammit Nick, I told you to play it cool“, Chris, barely maintaining a straight face, looked at each of her fellow Proprietors of the Six Sentence Cafe & Bistro, gave Ford a well deserved hug and a mischievous wink to Nick, the three standing bedside of their beloved Bartender, Denise; it was going to be a long night…
Where would we be without true family to cause a little mayhem, right when we don’t even realize we need it…Desperately.
So vivid! ❤

Nice description of the encounter with the nurse and security guards. Now to see how they bring her back to consciousness.

Thank you, Frank.
Yes, exactly! I was hoping to do that in this Six however, I realized my skill level couldn’t quite accommodate that task. Will see what I can do this week!

Family is there, all right, and call me asap, cutting through the bull of medical speak is one thing i’m not so bad at (grew up with a doctor and nurse so i know the jargon).

Absolutely, Mimi! Medical speak is not a thing I am well acquainted with. (without doubt, you do. cool)

Good continuing adventure, excellent execution of a not-as-easy-as-it-looks story, what with your chrono-dimensional shifting.
cool

And if Mimi’s cutting through the bull of medical speak needs some …reinforcing spice, you can always unleash a bearded man sitting to the left of your hospital bed.
As Clark pointed out, the tension building and release in both timelines is trademark Girlieontheedge!
Healing powers are subtly placed in your Six, Denise…and a beacon of light, waiting to be lit.

This is true however, I’ve a feeling if it came down to that, staff would be calling in the state police instead of hospital security, lol.
Thank you, Nick. There is always light. Always.

Great continuation of the story, Denise. And mounting tension. What next…?

Yes, yes, yes! So glad you made a 2nd episode, D! 😎 Love this, plenty of tension at St. Vincent’s as your allies rush to your (bed)side. Can’t wait to read #3 which I can already see in my WP Reader…
As an assistant nurse in real life, I love Ford’s interaction here with the nurse (I like to think I have a good handle on my nurses, lol). But it’s much easier for Ford to act the cool guy in this episode, when he knows he has the might of Nick to his left, and the guile of Chris to his right. And the three of us come to you… why? Because we love our bartender to bits ❤

I did, V 😎 Thank you.
I know I broke the “rule” of not speaking others’ characters however, I couldn’t help myself!
I trust I’ve been forgiven.
That makes me very happy you are happy with how I presented SSC&B Ford.
We can always count on our fellow Proprietors.
Aw…she feels the same about you guys ❤️
