The past, she realized, was a formidable structure. Packed into boxes of various sizes and materials, the makings of a life. Past. Stored and kept for posterity, tangibles wrapped in bubble wrap waiting to be popped, clothing hanging from padded and wooden hangers, waiting to be released…intention, safekeep until the time. Life began anew. Boxes and hangers, now having succumbed to nature’s wrath, open wide opportunity for life anew.

Kick off those stilettos and walk the sideline. No one’s watching the sunrise but you, so it’s all yours!
Nice six, and happiness song.

Denise,
“To a degree poetry [ and writing] solves problems; at the next higher degree it poses new; at the highest, it nullifies them to the point they stop being problems”.
There comes a time when the Warrior bleeds more from a pen than a sword.
Hurts more from a picture than an arrow.
That is the time of the Lone Wolf.
In solitude, bleeding will stop with new drops of ink.
Bow will be used on strings instead of arrows.
And…
…without having to look around, the Warrior feels when another lone wolf stands guard, Invisible to all.
[Btw, is Halloween earlier this year? I see some clowns out on the street…
Oh, well…I always preferred Samhain]

Some of your best work, Denise. Love it, especially ‘Boxes and hangers, now having succumbed to nature’s wrath, open wide’
I wrote a piece a long time ago about moving memories that included:
“and some will be ‘forgotten’,
but will only feign death
and, like ancient terracotta soldiers,
will wait in infinite patience
ready to ambush the present.”

Thank you, Doug.
Wow. Very moving, I appreciate you sharing some of that piece.
I especially like the part “like ancient terracotta soldiers, will wait in infinite patience”.

And who can resist popping some of those bubbles of the bubble wrap? Good one, D 😎 The past packaged up. Bold of you to use up a whole sentence with just one word: ‘past’.

No one!, lol Thanks, V. What do you know. Hadn’t thought it such 😉

Hanging to tightly to the past doesn’t leave room for the new.

You’ll have no argument from me on that, Mimi. Leaves no room.

I was optimistic at one time, but am now in despair trying to fit into my old business suits as I have been retired for too long and too much beer down the hatch since then. “ Natures wrath” has turned me into a casual clothes guy.

Try not to despair, “imno”. Few can pull out clothing from days gone by and wear it like we did back in the day, lol
I’ll be the first to admit…casual clothes can be a slippery slope 😆
