Cheshire cat snuggled beneath satin sheets, smile widening as she stretched her waking body, Denise began inching towards the middle of the king size bed where sunshine, breaking through window blinds like Grandmaster Flash, was waiting to take the chill out of the room this late November morning. What a night, don’t think I’ve had that much fun since…
Running both hands through sleep tousled hair, her right one caught on the baubles of a piece of jewelry most people wore as a necklace; the Bartender at the Six Sentence Café & Bistro laughed out loud as the memory of the prior evening’s events tumbled into full consciousness. Leaping out of bed, she stopped abruptly just long enough to make a mental note –don’t forget to thank the tall thin man for the introduction – then hurried downstairs to the kitchen.
Opening a new bag of New England Coffee Donut Shop blend, she couldn’t resist bringing the bag up to her nose to savor the aroma before scooping the granules and emptying them into the coffee maker’s basket (while her reputation had grown steadily as mixologist extraordinaire, what most people didn’t know was she also made a damn fine cup of coffee).
Thanks to the Six Sentence Café & Bistro hosting the annual meeting of the Association of Costume Jewelry Designers and Manufacturers, she’d have the next couple of days off which meant, no work and all play.
Thanks to tall thin man(ager)’s connections…there is more to this story.
No true coffee lover will open a new bag and won’t smell (at least a couple of times) the aroma emerging…part of the ritual, Denise.

No doubt there is.
A most wonderful aroma, Nick, and yes…part of the ritual.

This makes my morning feel happy as well, and I have no Donut Shop blend!

Coffee’s the best drink. I plan to make some shortly. Since I put coconut oil and some other stuff people said is good for you into it I view it as a mixed drink (without alcohol, but plenty of caffeine). The part about “inching towards the middle of the king size bed” reminds me of what I just did a few minutes ago.

It ranks up there for me, for sure. Had to google that, Frank, coconut oil in coffee.
It reminds me when a co-worker was on the keto diet and she said one of the suggestions was to put butter your coffee!
Sounds like you prefer your coffee with a little kick to it, lol.
If you’ve got the room, go for it 😁

Once your a premier mixologist, the ingredients don’t matter, alcohol, coffee, poisons, you are still a master of the arts.

And what a talent that must be!

some writer I would read, back in the before time, used the phrase, ‘coffee that tasted as good as it smelled’*
this virtual, imaginary world that can be accessed via the SSC&B is surely the a key to adventures of the self.
Will look forward to any reveals to the individual referenced in your Six.
will find it, somehow

That writer? Clearly a coffee drinker, lol.
Imo, there is nothing like the aromatic smell of freshly ground coffee.
Totally agree, Clark. Totally. The SSC&B is a most magical venue.
Now you’ve got me thinking!
I know that you will.

Tantalising story, Denise, with just enough (beautifully described) detail to whet the appetite. I want to know what happened ‘last night’. And I want a cup of that coffee!
AND I want to waken up every morning like your opening sentence. 😉
