A little about Girlie

Who is GirlieOnTheEdge?

There’s no easy answer to that question but there is a simple answer.  GirlieOnTheEdge is a clark .  I look at life through the lens of a clark.  That is to say, I relate myself to the world as a clark.  I am not a scott, though my secondary aspect is more scottian than rogerian.  What is a roger? Clarification needed?  Click here.  A perusal of “the Wakefield Doctrine aka the theory of clarks, scotts and rogers” will either clarify my statements or puzzle you.  Either of these reactions is a good thing 🙂

Always,
Girlie

P.S.  My given name is Denise Farley.  I’m pleased to meet you and if the little blurb above hasn’t scared you away, then I look forward to you joining me at the Edge.

It’s quite a tribute to your dad that he would initially respond to the poet declaration with ” No, really…”, and then, after short consideration, give you the best advice he could. Shows that he really did respect you, and your decision.

Yes, he was encouraging as to the writing thing. I remember him telling me I could write about anything and everything my mind could conjure.
My Dad was a natural at the piano but little did I Know he was somewhat of a poet himself. About 6 years or so ago I was going through some boxes that had been packed away and came across a leather billfold/padholder thing that belonged to my mother. I went through all the compartments, each one empty until the very last one. There was a delicate, yellowed single sheet of paper carefully folded in half and then half again. It was a poem my Dad had written to my mother a very, very long time ago. It was beautiful. I remember sitting on the edge of the bed reading it, my eyes filling with tears. How can I describe the feeling of discovering that my Dad was the source of my hopeful, romantic “poet’s heart”?
My only regret is not knowing this about him while he was alive. Now that would be one collaborative effort to be reckoned with.

GirlieOnTheEdge, Denise, I made a mistake! Imagine that. I had read on another link about your prompt word “finish” so I hopped over and decided to join your challenge. Alas, I did not pay attention to the six-word sentence part. I used it in a haiku. Sorry. I’ll do the six words next time. I’m going to the link and read some six-word stories. Bad to start off like this!

Hi Oneta! No worries. Glad you decided to participate!
I post the prompt word on Sunday each week and then post the link on Wednesday night. I hope we see you at next week’s Six Sentence Stories 🙂

I’ve never heard of the Wakefield Doctrine so that was cool to learn. And I guess I’m also a clark but I like the part on rogerian expression (kind of like puns to me?) so maybe I have a drop of roger.

      Hm…what is 2+2? 😀
rogerian expressions. Unmistakable when you hear one, difficult not to smile at. Yeah, I guess kind of like a pun, but not. Best to ask Clark directly to tell you about rogerian expressions.
Thanks for following my blog, Michael! Look forward to you linking your Six Sentence Story on Thursday!

You have the pen and you have the ink.

    The journey continues.
