Spiritus Mundi. It’s a 6.

Do I attribute it to Spring’s fickle up and down all around weather? Was the cue a musical chord striking an emotional string? Does it matter? “SOC” (stream of consciousness) is a stream, so let her flow. Enjoy!

********************************

Sweet child o’ mine, still walking in the cold November rain, how is it you find yourself on the road again running, running against the wind? As the wind cries Mary, you scream in vengeance wherever you may roam, running to the hills even as they fade to black. Life is hard and then you die you think standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona ticking away the moments of a dull day, waiting for the train, gone dead train. Times have changed and times are strange… down in a hole… rally round tha family with a pocket full of shells. Can’t you see it’s a beautiful day, don’t be a casualty, cut the chord ’cause agony brings no reward  –  you’re stuck in a moment, take it away and everything will be OK. Effervescent smile, youth gone wild, you are young and life is long so hey, hey, turn the record over; don’t forget to dance.

Editor’s Note: while some may be obvious, others less so, my 6 is comprised almost entirely of bits and pieces of song lyrics. Inspiration for a Six told in their own words.

Love this, Denise! I thought some of the phrases were familiar… then I read the note. I especially like the ending ‘…turn the record over; don’t forget to dance.’ A metaphor for life 🙂 Is that from a single song? I can’t place that one.

Thanks a lot for the brain worm*

Nice Six. In a crocheted-mindscape sorta way.

*which is like an ear worm, but not as much fun… trying to place all the phrases that jump up and insist they’re lyrics to songs I know… the process very much like a reverse-Tetris game.

The least I can do, sir 😆

Thank you, Clark. I could not describe it more poetically than that.

I like the ending – turn the record over and dance. The other side should be better.

Absolutely. It’s our choice, isn’t it, to take a first step in turning it over?
      Happy Friday, Frank!

This a great SOC and so many of the phrases are ones that can be grabbed and pondered a bit.

I love weaving song lyrics into poetry, and I loved picking them out in your piece (I’m sure I didn’t catch them all, but it was fun catching the ones I did know).

I love, love, love, this. The rhythm and rhyming of your collection is brilliant. Ever thought about recording the rap?

Hm.. wonderful that you suggest. I’d not thought about it, although I will admit to writing a few pieces back in the day where rap was the “voice”.

Hiya, D. So late but so pleased I caught this, and had fun and smiles picking out the tunes right from those two G N’ Rs. Now, imagine plugging all these into the soundtrack of a long drive somewhere!
Last line: “hey, hey, turn the record over; don’t forget to dance.” 😎

Hey, V. No worries. You’re never late at the Edge! I had no doubt you’d get pretty much all of them. Glad you enjoyed.
Oh, I can… would be a most excellent drive 😆

Thanks, D. I got a fair few but not all. You made a good ’embroidery’ putting them all together like that 😎
