Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
Don’t know why I used Mr. King’s quote today. Maybe the mood I’m in? Mood aside, it got me to thinking that yes, he makes a valid point- to write characters well, even the “bad” ones, we must first know them and be brutally honest about “who” they are. Are we willing and able to do that? Like any craft we pursue, writing requires practice. The more we practice the better we get technically, but what about character development? Holy smokers, both challenge and dare, because characters are sourced from our imaginations. Can’t get more personal than that, eh? Writing allows us to develop our technical chops and confidence. Six Sentence Stories allows us, in micro bursts, to develop both of these things. A mere, yet exact number of sentences whose number is 6. That is what we are tasked to write each week via story, poem or soc. Shall be we break out the mining apparatus? Hardhats are on us.

Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers.

PROMPT WORD:  GRAIN

Bad writing is more than a matter of shit syntax and faulty observation; bad writing usually arises from a stubborn refusal to tell stories about what people actually do– to face the fact, let us say, that murderers sometimes help old ladies cross the street.”
– Stephen King

I LOVE your post…especially the “holy smokers”, and about writing genuine/authentic characters–even the bad ones. Totally love it.
