Sunday’s Six Sentence Story Word Prompt!

Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
Shall I begin from the beginning? Is that what this week’s prompt word is about? Why it’s an “A” word? No, but it did get me thinking about the technique of writing a story from the middle. Then, I found myself asking the question: does a non-linear opening dictate we already have a storyline in place? Or, can a single “incident” be used as a tool to generate a story when none is there. Whether you are an outline writer or seat of the pants writer doesn’t matter here at the Six Sentence Story Blog Hop. What does matter is you have fun writing a story, poem, next scene or spot of soc in exactly 6 sentences. Afterward, when you finish? Let us all in on your creation by returning to the ‘Edge and linking the URL to your Six Sentence Story. Beginning, middle, end. Pick one and let’s see where it goes.

Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.
Link up at Wednesday’s post. Link goes live at 6:00 pm through Saturday late…
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers.

PROMPT WORD:  ACE

A writer should get as much education as possible, but just going to school is not enough; if it were, all owners of doctorates would be inspired writers.” – Gwendolyn Brook

That’s intriguing, to be more attentive to our beginnings in writing, be it the middle or end of the story and not the linear beginning. I often know the end or the last line before I know anything else; might have a vague image in mind… But what would happen if I just plunked the ideas/images/lines down as they come to me, not as they”should” be in a story. Hmmm. (Now I just have to see if anything does come to me at all. Doesn’t always.)

Knowing the last line of a yet to be written story would surely
be advantageous, D. I say take the leap – experiment, “just plunk”
down those ideas. “Mixing it up” can be a good thing!
