Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and another edition of Six Sentence Stories!
This morning, sleepily, I googled most famous/best opening lines in books. Well. I should not have been surprised by a plethora of websites naming their top 18, 10 or 25. The authors of the books cited surely weren’t thinking “yeah, that’s a fantastic first sentence”. Necessarily. Writing is more about getting first words down, right? More often than not, we throw the clay then begin the molding and shaping of those words. Even for a Six Sentence Story. For those of us who enjoy participating in this writing challenge, our word count is often high as we write to discover and/or refine our story. Then? That’s where the fun begins as we attempt to reshape our story by reducing it to exactly 6 sentences. Welcome to Thursday’s Six Sentence Story Blog Hop where we are tasked to write a story, next scene, poem or spattering of soc in the requisite, precise number of sentences: 6. Got your apron? Wheel at the ready? Let’s throw.
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.
Use the current week’s prompt word.

Link is live Wednesday 6:00 PM, ends way late Saturday night!
Spread the word and put in a good one to your fellow writers 😀

Oooh, I love the quote! I do worry that my sentences are on the questionable side what is ONE sentence. Editing takes forever, and Bedelia’s still found wanting, usually. But until you reprimand me nicely, I’ll sally forth–and just try to keep the word-count reasonable (whatever that number is, I’m just guessing).
You are wonderful, Denise–I can honestly say that 6SS has changed my life for the better. I may recommend it to folks who shun “counseling” (therapy)…yet need to iron out some wrinkles.
