Now this..this feels at once foreign and familiar! And good 🙂 I’m sharing my 10 Thankfuls today in honor of the 6th anniversary of the Ten Things of Thankful blog hop. Why, yes! That very one. Birthed by Lizzie, the Considerer, inherited by Josie Two Shoes and devised to Kristi of Thankful Me, we are here in celebration of a most wonderful idea turned movement, without question, beneficial in ways not always immediately realized. So, shall we?
First up: the community that is the blogosphere. Specifically, all the most awesome, crazy (in the fun way, lol), generous people I met back then and all of the fabulous, creative people I am meeting now.
2nd: That it no longer rains here every Friday! You could tell it was Friday (or, you knew the weather forecast in advance) because it had rained on Friday for 8 consecutive weeks. Like clockwork.
3rd: Six Sentence Stories.
4th: Here’s an odd one. Driving to nephew’s soccer game (tournament time) I noticed a whole lotta geese in the median on Rt. 50 in Fairfax. (yo! Kristi Campbell, you know where – right around Jermantown Rd.) A whole lotta geese and their little baby ones feeding in the median of a very busy highway. What the hell. I had fingers crossed that on the way back I would see no dead bodies. I did not.
5. Thanks always for job and vehicle, being able to afford the necessities.
6. My health. While I have a couple of minor issues, it is nothing compared to what many suffer, endure, battle, conquer each and every day.
7. Computers/laptops. What a portal! What an asset! What a wonderful vehicle for widening and enriching my world.
8. Music.
10. That’s right! I’m invoking Rule 1.3. The SBOR/BOSR says I can 🙂
This is quite the celebration, isn’t it? I’m so glad that it has turned into a reunion as well as a continuation of what is always has been–a place for everyone who so desires to come together and give thanks.
I’m glad that more summery weather has returned to your Fridays. Eight weeks is a long time! Our temps dropped 20 degrees yesterday, but as John was still digging and moving heavy bricks for the firepit project, we didn’t mind a cool Saturday.
Thank you for hosting the Six Sentence Stories each week. Though I don’t always come up with something, I always enjoy the weeks I do participate.

It is! Me too. I appreciate you making it happen 🙂
You and me both, Kristi. While I tried to maintain the positives…making the grass greener, trees and flowers bloom, it was getting a little depressing, lol. 20 degrees is a major swing but I bet John was grateful for it.Can’t wait to see the pit when it’s completed.
I’m honored to host. It’s been fun and quite a learning experience. And an incredible way to meet people! I enjoy reading your 6’s and like the TToT it’s not about frequency, it’s about participating 🙂

Yikes to the geese at 50 and Jermantown! I’m so glad you didn’t see any victims on your way back. I think I know the exact median you’re talking about. You know, your number seven could really be 10 thankfuls in itself. How surreal is it that x number of years ago, you, me, Lizzi, Sarah, Clark, Zoe, read some blogs, ended up on vid chats and then hung out IRL in Ocean City?!!?!? That was such a fun trip. This 6th anniversary feels like blogging the way it used to be. I’m glad the portal you speak of brought us together!

I know, right! Incredible and wonderful and yes, awesome trip. It was the coolest thing I’d done in years meeting everyone irl.

Glad no geese got taken down, it’s odd what animals will do sometimes. Thursday seems to be our rainy day here.

Aha. And from the sounds of it, way too much rain!
I hope you’re enjoying vacation 🙂

Surely the most excellent of Rule from the Book of Secret Rules (aka the Secret Book of Rules)…. it’s surely as good as a Sunday night BLT and as easy as falling in the bathtub.
“…the trip we made to Ocean City is etched upon my mind.”*
*you’re welcome. nothing like a Monday mind worm.

Hehehe the second instance of the infamous 1.3!!!! Good old BOSR/SBOR! How I’ve missed it! Reckon I’ve been following the fourteenth aspect of the foreword, which states that in the case of gathering life, writing is allowed to gather dust. I’ve missed it though.
Glad the geese were all okay, and THANK GOODNESS THE RAIN HAS LET UP! Good gracious that’s QUITE enough of that!!!
So good to see you.

Hey, if there’s a rule, it’s in the book! Sounds like a good rule to me. There should be an allowance for a dust gathering. But only for so long 😀
Thanks for stopping by 🙂

What a great list of thankfuls to celebrate this anniversary, Girlie! I have been such a blogging slacker for so long now, and just taking the time to write my post (long-winded as always), read the others, and now come back to comment, has reminded me of what I love and miss about participating in the TToT and Six Sentence Stories… it’s the camaraderie, the sharing, the support, the realest bunch of folks I’ve ever found all together! I loved you being thankful that the geese making it safely off the roadway, I would have worried about that too. And yes, the ever so important basics of life like jobs, transportation, and relative good health! We have had an amazing over-abundance of rain here too this Spring, and the weeds are thriving… but hey, they are green and I love green yards! 🙂 Computers and the Internet, how often I’ve pondered how life-changing they have been for someone who grew up in the age of vinyl records and transistor radios! This ability to find members of our tribe scattered across the world and to connect in a very personal way is truly one of the biggest thankfuls I have. I am also very thankful that you willingly took over Six Sentence Stories for Zoe, which was originally my baby that Zoe had kindly picked up and continued when I grew weary. It makes me happy that it is still going strong because of your ongoing efforts and dedication. I really need to get in gear and show up now and then! 🙂 XO

Thanks, Josie. It’s good to “see” you. Like old times! So true, it is about the camaraderie and sharing. And the coolest thing about those friendships is they transcend time. Those geese really made me nervous. It’s not like they had a lot of room to get a running start, lol It seems a lot of states have been getting an unusual amount of rainfall with awful flooding. Green is good even if it’s weeds 🙂 You and me both. I too was raised on vinyl and I bet I still have my little transistor packed in a box somewhere. Computers. They’re like magic in a box! I often will stop and remind myself of what it was like before Google. I’m incredibly thankful for computers and how they make our lives to “portable”, so available. It has been quite an experience! I hope I am doing you proud. That would be great if you stopped by with a 6 every now and again 🙂 Take care and be well.

I feel the same way about health issues. It seems that sooner or later we all have some health challenges that come and go, or even stay, but when we look around, there is always someone who is dealing with what seems to be a greater trial.
So glad there were no geese fatalities. One never knows what geese delicacies lay in the median strip. LOL
I love “Dancing in the Streets.” A great choice for this TToT celebration. That took me back to my younger years!
Glad your rainy spell ended. Apparently our has too. It is supposed to be 97 degrees on Wednesday. Yikes!

97!!! Summer before official summer. But I’d rather be hot than the cold 😁
My mind went right to one of them deciding to walk across the highway and as you know, it only takes one to get the entire group following.
One of my favorite songs too!
P.S. Have missed you at the SSS☺

Thanks for that reminder about the car – I’ve been so fortunate to always have a reliable vehicle. I try not to take it for granted, since some of the beaters I see out there must be held together with a little duct tape and bubble gum. And thanks for reading and commenting on LivingCenter. It’s nice to be included. All the best… xoxox

You nailed it – community is the best damn thing. I have long loved the TToT gang, even when I have fallen away from regular posting. And all the other groups that are interconnected with this one? LOVE. Hope to get back here and there with some posting again. xo
