Welcome to GirlieOnTheEdge and Sunday’s prompt word reveal for Six Sentence Stories!
It’s raining as I write this. Straight down. Looking out the kitchen window, I see it, in small puddles on the storage shed roof. It is impatient. The rain. Not obnoxiously so, yet its persistence is evident to me. How can I write the translation of what I see that conveys what I want others to experience? Isn’t that the challenge? I especially like today’s quote because Mr. Maugham speaks to this very thing, in my mind anyway. Yes, we can write up a storm when passion grips our “pen”. Yet what of those times it does not? When we feel on the cusp, words balancing at the edge of our minds and all that’s required to send them spilling onto the blank page is a nudge. Enter writing challenges. This writing challenge. To write 6 sentences. No more. No less. Limitation? No! Read the word again! It is quite the opposite when you think about it from another perspective. Six Sentence Stories. Blog hop. Writing challenge. Tell a story, sing a poem, string an “soc”, take us in search of…. in precisely 6 sentences. We are storytellers and world builders. Poets and humorists. We are philosophers and mystery writers. We are, Six Sentence Stories.
Rules of the hop:
Write 6 Sentences. No more. No less.

PROMPT WORD: GUARD
“If you can tell stories, create characters, devise incidents, and have sincerity and passion, it doesn’t matter a damn how you write.” – Somerset Maugham
What a fabulous quote, Denise… I love it! 😀

Interesting quote but, reluctant though I am to contradict Mr Maugham, I don’t entirely agree.
