Food for Thought. It’s a Café 6.

In the previous Café Six, we left Denise, Bar Tender of the SSC&B and her late night visitor…

What the hell is a Proprietor?”

Daybreak slowed only a fraction, passing through the leaded glass wall of Loft 7.  Still and silent as only a shadow-silhouette, the black shapes of 2 women, one barely constrained, even as a shadow figure; the other, calm as slack tide mocking the self-assuredness of the oriental carpet covering the wide-board floors.

Tilting her head slightly to the left, as if it would help form words more logically, Denise brushed sleep tossed bangs back from the right side of her face. “You know, a more formal name for “owner”, see there’s 6 other Proprietors besides myself; collectively known as the 7 Proprietors of the Six Sentence Café & Bistro…it’s pretty cool really, how”

Impatience, egging on the pout appearing on the other woman’s face,  “Uh, huh…yeah, whatever – put on some clothes, we’re gonna hit that all night diner I passed on my way over here, catch up on the last 10 years over pancakes.”

Did she whatever you?! Oh, man…
And catch up (cue Pulp Fiction/Mia’s joke) over pancakes? Really?? Is that the best she can do??

Ok, let us show her how we deal with midnight visitors, the SSC&B way!
Remember the limo driver from your last girls-only night out?
Yeap, that one! Giving him a call right now!
Ok, you’ve got 30 minutes to get ready – he’ll be waiting in the white Lincoln at your driveway.
    Anything else m’lady?

The Bar Tender can handle it. They go way back, lol
Oh, man! Was not thinking Pulp Fiction but hey, you brought it up so..

Yes! Of course he’s still available for the Bar Tender of the SSC&B.
For this? The 2 ladies are gonna walk 😉
      Gatekeeper at the ready…

Pulp Fiction notwithstanding, pancakes at an all-night diner seems just the thing to get the Bartender to unburden herself. Your descriptions are so vivid, they come to life, Denise.

Isn’t it, though? Something about diners and eating there in the after/before hours.
      Thank you, Dora. That’s encouraging.

Put Hunga’s Pet Partner’s harness on and he’s welcome just about anywhere. Enjoy the pancakes and the catching up.

Nice description of the visitor’s impatience with “yeah, whatever”. Those all night diners seem like a good place to catch up with someone.

Thank you, Frank. She’s one of those friends you need to keep explanations on the shorter side, lol
They so are. The atmosphere, between the hours of 1 am and dawn. Can’t beat it.

“Impatience, *egging* on the pout…” Then going out for pancakes – I enjoyed the breakfast theme here.

Who hasn’t sat in a fluorescent lit chapel with a pink-formica altar served by a woman who made the mistake of believing the promises being made to her three-quarters of a lifetime before.
a place to take sustenance but once in a lifetime

    ‘cellent Six

Love those all-night diners with a friend from the way-back. And walking at night? Yeah!
PF notwithstanding, I always go for 2 eggs over easy on a pile of creamy-crispy hashbrowns (skip the pancakes), a rasher of crisp bacon to cut the burned coffee they’ve usually got going that time of night.

      😁 Ye-e-esss!
Ya know, Liz. I’d swap out the pancakes for that order. I love hashbrowns!
